Things are really escelating quite quickly with Kalmaegi (TinoPH) now. Recent satellite images have lead me to believe that it is a Category 4 on the SSHWS or at least very close. A very impressive episode of rapid-intensification, we are witnessing.

Signal No. 1 has been raised for parts of eastern Visayas and far northeast Mindanao.

Typhoon TinoPH (Kalmaegi) is predicted to pass directly over our Philippines island of Panay on Tuesday with wind speeds of around 148km/h. It is the 4th Tropical Cyclone so far this season.

Typhoon Kalmaegi (TinoPH): Our island is loosing its mains electricity, area by area. Our blackout happened at 7:40am, about 3 hours ago. Our friends, an hours drive away, lost theirs at 9pm last night. The fiber broadband is struggling, 4G OK but, as always, slow.

#Kalmaegi / #TinoPH is steadily intensifying, but thankfully not particularly quickly. Only a few more hours until it crosses Siargao and the Dinagat Islands.

Last night the storm consisted of two intense competing convective cores which likely slowed consolidation into something uglier.
