This book was heart aching. The examination of the pandemic and BLM protests through the view of this main character was intense. The haunting part of the story felt so sad too.

If the pattern seems missing, maybe we’re just zoomed in too far.
Louise Erdrich knew scale changes everything.

For anyone wanting a historical analysis of just how messed up this is, please read The Round House, by #LouiseErdrich, (winner, National Book Award, fiction, 2012). Though set in the lower 48, there are important parallels to the problem of jurisdictional deserts and violence against women.

Finished book. Nowt to read on bus. I thought it was pretty poor. Reviews say ‘stunning - powerful - funny - heartwarming ‘. I thought it was none of those things. Stitched together and a bit dull. #louiseerdrich #thesentence Pollux bollux tookie wookie

Recycle the mail, don’t read it, don’t read anything
except what destroys
the insulation between yourself and your experience
or what pulls down or what strikes at or what shatters
this ruse you call necessity.

ADVICE TO MYSELF
By #LouiseErdrich

Leave the dishes.
Let the celery rot in the bottom drawer of the refrigerator
and an earthen scum harden on the kitchen floor.
Leave the black crumbs in the bottom of the toaster.
Throw the cracked bowl out and don’t patch the cup.

11/100 📚 🌾
📖: The Mighty Red by Louise Erdrich
Genre: Contemporary, Literary
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Thoughts: I did not want this book to end. Sure it didn’t all make sense, but Erdrich crafts such painfully human characters, and puts them in such silly yet resonant scenarios. #BookSky #LouiseErdrich
