For the mathemeticians in the room: if I already have one Steamdeck, how many more will I need to construct a human sized sphere?

Mathemeticians working in the paddy fields. Mao would be proud.

String theory is a way for physics departments to lure stray mathemeticians out from behind the dumpster long enough to Trap, Neuter and Release them. If you see a mathetician who's had the top of their left ear snipped off, you've found a string theorist.

During WWII a critical cipher to break was the code generated by Enigma. Alan Turing and a team of mathemeticians and scientists used a machine named Bombe in addition to their own brilliance to help them break the cipher.

Notice to people who do not understand mathemeticians: Mathematicians are generally NOT good accountants. We're generally quite bad at number crunching and HATE doing it. That's why we do mathematics and not accounting.

did nail guns replace guys with hammers entirely or just give them a different tool

did calculators replace mathemeticians + accountants, or make basic calculation more accessible

i'm not talking about tools as a measure of progress, i'm talking about factory owners gleefully planning mass layoffs

Math by ignorant bastard Middle East infidels, firework & seismographs (& sooooo much more than noodles & ice cream) from China. Portugal: Earthquake simulation. God-like mathemeticians in Europe etc. So many brilliant folks coming here until tRump & MAGA decided that stupid is the way to go.

some of the most powerful calculators in the world are solving math problems that even mathemeticians cannot do in their heads
Some of the most powerful AI models today have exhibited behaviors that mimic a will to survive by sabotaging shutdown commands, blackmailing engineers or copying themselves to external servers without permission.
How far will AI go to defend its own survival?
Recent safety tests show some AI models are capable of sabotaging commands or even resorting to blackmail to avoid being turned off or replaced.

Started watching Prime Number and I have learned that even neurodivergant mathemeticians can get laid without much effort with hot guys. Although they did back it up with 'get out I have important maths to do'.

I would be making one of these memes about contemporary digital cameras if I didn't have to literally go photograph zebras at a zoo right now

I may only have a limited knowledge of math*, but I don't think he meant hyperexponential in the way mathemeticians define it.

So no recent college grads, even if they are absolutely qualified and incredibly skileed? Weird. Hell, most of the best mathemeticians in the WORLD did their best work in their 20s.

I'm thinking I'd rather 17 year olds vote than YOU vote if that's how you generally think.

Yes, Wonderful & True. That is why todays overpaid educators & grossly compensated CEO's should brunt the cost of education & health to all, to uplift everybody. An educated person in medical, mathemeticians & physicists, engineers will leapfrog other countries, as China has done to America & Russia

I have actually asked "real" mathemeticians about it, on the very odd occasion when I've met them, and they always say it's possible, but I don't know if they're serious or just polite.
February 18, 2025 at 7:35 PM
Nice try at deflecting. Why not actually read them and double check with real mathemeticians.
April 12, 2025 at 1:36 PM
I'll wait for the mathemeticians to decide, thank you.

75% of the mathemeticians at Bletchley Park were women. Together with a gay man Alan Turing, they broke the German Enigma code scheme, saving probably hundereds of thousands lives. This was a REALLY big deal.

the bourbaki group was/is a group of french mathemeticians. a feature that they share with blurryface & the bishops is that bf & nicholas bourbaki both function as umbrella identities--one name representing what is in fact a number of different entities, but still form a whole. #twentyonepilots
I’m a Vessel era clikkie but only discovered the lore properly after Clancy.
I feel like I’ve only scratched the surface with it all!

For me, and the newer clikkies, share a ‘lore fact’ you know and help others learn something they might not have come across yet! ☺️
