£225m get tossed at a single shiny AI-exclusive machine, while many UK ARC teams scrounge for funds to replace lost staff & aging infrastructure. #MatthewEffect #LevelingUp is a farce.

when quality is tough to measure objectively, reputation often takes its place and the #Mattheweffect takes over. Well-known names get the recognition, even if their work isn’t actually superior. 🤷‍♀️📚

I wish the field of science was more attuned to the #MatthewEffect (essentially the "rich" getting richer over time)
