FL, TX, MS, SC & GA stand to suffer most from ACA subsidy expiration because they haven’t expanded Medicaid, leaving many low-income households uninsured. Medicare’s also being dismantled.

Does Trump Admin think that with robots, they won’t need a 100M or so poor/sick/old/POC Americans?

Isn’t Medicare’s ability to negotiate prices controlled by congress? And didn’t Biden try to enable Medicare the authority to negotiate better prices?

Hey, man. It's almost as if our institutions are captured by corporations and the pharmaceutical companies! Making a case against Medicare on the basis of negotiating in good faith with the worst orgs on Earth just isn't a good basis for measuring Medicare's effectiveness tbh

Happy New Year to me. My Medicare gap insurance just went up $77 to $503/mo plus Medicare’s $200+ and $70 for dental/vision=nearly $800/mo and I’m RETIRED! My income is decreasing while rent, food, auto insurance etc keep increasing. hmmmm…this doesn’t seem like a good plan, does it?

The damage wouldn’t be abstract. Medicare’s bargaining power keeps costs down for seniors and taxpayers alike. Undercut that leverage and prices rise fast. Private plans skim profits, cherry-pick healthier patients, and leave the sickest and most expensive cases behind.

According to Medicare.gov, the facility underwent a standard fire safety inspection in September 2024, during which no citations were issued. But Medicare’s overall rating of the facility is listed as “much below average,” with poor ratings for health inspections in particular.

“President Trump has laid siege to science and public health, cut US$990 billion from Medicaid to offset tax reductions…and is accelerating Medicare's privatisation. State governments can tighten regulation of profit-driven abuses…Reforms must decommercialise insurance and care provision.”

I remember when one of the private insurers announced they were going to try to adopt a form of Medicare's anesthesiology rules, and the anesthesiologists (who make around $400k/year on average) planted stories about how this meant you'd be woken up to suffer mid-surgery.
