#MyDomain
Oh interesting. I'm curious to see how that goes.

I dump a domain to Gmail for the same reason. Things get mixed up, but I've always blamed the problems on myself and Chrome.

For some reason Chrome *really* loves weavegotmaille@mydomain. At least it isn't leaking my quiet address that way!

Gut check security question:

I own MyDomain(.)com

Users login to MyDomain via MyAuthDomain(.)com

Whoops, dozens of subdomains on MyAuthDomain(.)com were created by attackers w/ ill-intent

MyDomain(.)com allows ANY code from MyAuthDomain to fire via CSP policies

Am I pwned?

if you have other than the "under construction" provider's website for "mydomain dot tld", bitbucket the "me dot" subdomain

you have a website, so you do have a firewall don't you

or redirect to your bsky profile

My email is raven@<mydomain>

My favorite "misplaced email" was fan mail meant for Raven-Symoné of the TV show _That's So Raven_.

I use @proton.me. Works really well. I have a wildcard domain so all the whatever@mydomain get sent to my one inbox.

If you’re concerned about transition, set your new Proton (or w/e) email as a forwarding address in Gmail and make sure that your Gmail outgoing emails have a Reply-To w/ new email.

I do not want to redirect NGINX Here is where I am at using firefox as browser: http://luckyduckywebcrawler.mydomain.com → “The page isn’t redirecting properly” https://mydomain.com -->“The page isn’t redirecting properly” http://mydomain....

I own my own domain, so when a company asks me for my email address, I tell them it's <their name>@<mydomain>.com. I got unsolicited emails at moonpig@<mydomain>.com. When I told Moonpig their database may have been hacked, they shamefacedly admitted the spam was from another one of their companies.

register a domain, bsky are doing a deal with namecheap

i use cloudflare's free tier for a bunch of people i support and it's falling off a log stuff there

add a CNAME record for

me dot mydomain dot tld

add a TXT record that bsky will give you

that's it

The best thing about having my own internet domain is seeing all the email coming from "admin@<mydomain>.com" telling me that my account is being suspended.

* Some email providers, like Gmail, allow the use of + notation (user+anothertag), but spammers have learned to remove that and it exposes the "real" user part--left of the @ sign--to everyone. The method I use is formatted like: somecompany @ hello . mydomain . org

I should probably make a second address that's just "spam@mydomain". Might be awkward to give that out but in my experience nobody who has to ask that question is paid enough to care
February 2, 2025 at 9:08 PM
Yeah, it was that exact kind of process. I absolutely love it because I use a kind of unique scheme where I always use companyNameorUrl@mydomain then collect those all into one account. So I always know who is spamming or selling my info

Can we please just establish that EVERY website that has accounts should have a /login that takes you to the login page? Pretty please? #webdevelopment

Alright - so, seems like having auth[dot]mydomain is fine, but trying to use that as a proxy-pass with Authentik leads to a loop.

It's fine if I use the Authentik IP, but trying to use the domain and it throws 500 (likely due to a loop).

There's gotta be a way to make it work.

(disc: those are UUIDs for the pedantic)

you can't upload

me@mydomain,45,male,owes_big_tax,etc

cos it's not use - FB already has MORE data than that on you.

Would it be different if it was an ad saying "you are due a refund, go to MyIR to get it before 1 April!" (sounds scammy, tho)

so, for example, if your email was [email protected], you’d have no reason to expect that [email protected] is also yours. similarly, @adampknav.bsky.social handle is currently untaken, and (i think?...) in theory someone could register it

11 THE BIG ONE: CUSTOM HANDLES
Would you like your own personal handle like: myname@mydomain?
Follow this tutorial, the ATproto protocol allows you to host your own content. It’s also a way to verify your account. Companies/media media will start using this too:

bsky.social/about/blog/4...

They should.

As someone who has been running websites since 1998 (WHERE HAS THE TIME GONE, MAX?!), setting up the handle @ mydomain isn't an issue for me. I know all the terminology and how tos.

Most people don't.

I just think there's an *easier way* than they are choosing to go with.
