👋🏽 So exhausted. I used to enjoy self-portraiture. At this point, trying to make music or photography is extra strain on top of coping w/the daily dose of utterly unnecessary intolerable horribleness spewed at us by a broken minority of awful humans granted ultimate power. We must save each other.
That’s me. White guy in front of a shower curtain wearing a black fleece shirt with collar, side-lit from a window off screen, engaging a stern expression and allowing you to see his terribly inelegant unshaven face that will never grow a good-looking beard. Side of head is shaved and most hair is flipped over the top to my left side because I’m experimenting with trying to hold on to some kind of atypical but not aggressively fringe outward characteristics, which I’m uncertain about as a 50-year-old having a midlife crisis due to life experience, aging, and the nightmare of fascist & religious insanity gripping the USA. Shitty iPhone SE3 image quality, with its non-consensual image processing that cannot be disabled, plus some chosen stylizing via various settings adjustments that I regret, but fuck it. And fuck any corporation using alt tags to feed their image theft tool’s metadata. Generative tools aren’t AI. Fuck corporate America and their thorough corruption. Fuck the tech industry for destroying the vast potential of computers. Fuck authoritarians, extremists, and the self-righteous. So fucking sick of it all. It never had to be this way. Hold on to each other, people. The only way to survive is to actually fucking care about each other, not endlessly split into endless factions. Sincerity is better than preemptive defensiveness and untouchable posturing.

Henriette Robert, daughter of the distinguished amateur photographer of this portrait, is seated on a stone balustrade in the garden of the manufactory at Sèvres, where her father spent his entire professional career in various positions of authority from 1839 to 1879. Throughout his working career, however, Robert devoted much passion and energy to his interest in photography. One of his earliest themes was portraiture, embodied in a small, remarkable group of intimate views of his family and his fellow artists at Sèvres. In this spare composition, Robert posed his daughter in a contemplative manner, holding a book and deliberately looking into the camera's lens. This beautiful portrait of Henriette is distinquished by its intensity and its allusion to her personality.

‘WESTWORLD’ was the first feature film to use digital image processing. John Whitney, Jr. and Gary Demos at Information International, Inc. digitally processed motion picture photography to appear pixelized in order to portray the Gunslinger android's point of view. The approximately 2 minutes and 31 seconds worth of cinegraphic block portraiture was accomplished by color-separating (three basic color separations plus black mask) each frame of source 70 mm film images, scanning each of these elements to convert into rectangular blocks, then adding basic color according to the tone values developed. The resulting coarse pixel matrix was output back to film.
