Funny thing about this piece is thati couldn’t find a publisher. I ended up including it in my self published collection. It struck a chord with readers. Sadly, its relevance as a tale about Handala, the immortal Palestinian child refugee, keeps growing.

Gawd, this is a grim warning for me. So I watched that animal shelter vid going round, felt all teary and happy, shared it - without the ability to parse that it was AI because I *wanted* to believe it. Have unshared. Wish it was real. But mostly wish we weren't lied to by AI.

I had to tear out some of the embroidery. I’m not very good at symmetry and stitch placement. I usually do crewel which is free form most of the time. Tatreez is difficult to master.
