#Qmerit
Ours was free. Qmerit subs it to local electricians. I can't imagine a new SFH build costing $5k extra unless they are paranoid and running larger than a 200A panel or an extra large wire from the utility.

Quite frankly, most of them do!

I don't recall Hyundai details, but a company called QMerit is the main go-to for automakers to do exactly that ... survey the property, look at the panel, figure out incoming power, and install the charging station if all is OK. Several makers use QMerit.

Hi Tom, I used qmerit to install an emporia pro(for I3) in my daughter’s place down in Charleston, SC and running into issues. Is there someone I should contact for this?

r/evcharging disagrees with your like of outlets. They are far and away the most common point of fire / melting with EVSE

I like State of Charge but he's just a big QMerit ad...

Charging giant Qmerit reports its best quarter ever for Level 2 home plug installations.

Thank the automakers for getting the message: if they want to sell EVs, they need to throw in home chargers.

One of the smart things Chevy did with the Bolt is work with QMerit to pick up the cost (within limits) of a home charger installation. It's not a perfect program by any means, but saying "hey, we know this can be confusing, we'll cover the cost and have experts to help" went a long way.

OK, but does Chevy still do the thing where they'll pay to install a charger at your house - they had a Qmerit deal when I did it. kinda wonder if you lose that going to Costco.

either way, EVs will never be this cheap again (until BYD et al show up)

My electric company had a rebate program and the application process was easier if I used QMerit. Their price (before rebate) was pretty high, but I’m guessing they factored in the availability of the rebate and just raised their price accordingly.

Those programs you've reported on where carmakers include the chargers and work with Qmerit are really tapping a huge pool of potential. Not long ago it was reported most charge their EVs at home on LVL 1, huge potential market for deploying LVL 2 and the benefits it brings, including more efficient

New GM vehicles come with a retrofit install of Lvl 2 charging (either a NEMA 14-50 or a BYO Hardwire charger). They subcontract to Qmerit. The "standard install" is free. If your house/situation requires a "non-standard" install, then they will give to a $1k credit + $250 for permit.
