Yeah I have a RG405V and I get what you mean, my gba one the RG34XX is way less powerfull. But it gets WAY more use, like daily. Because it feels and plays like a GBA

I'd recommend an Anbernic device with a 3:2 aspect, as this matches the GBA's aspect ratio. An RG34XX is probably the best.

Maybe something like anything with a snapdragon cpu I think Windows on arm has something to run games for x64 iirc might be a good option since battery matters

Tho I don’t really play on this, it’s for collection. As I mentioned, DS and below I play on emulators, like this Anbernic RG34XX, with 3x integer scale screen of the GBA.
I also have an RG34XX-SP, but will sell it soon to get an RGDS instead. That’s dual screen and can even do some lightweight 3DS

Last one of the ones I want to show is the Anbernic RG34XXSP. Exact same screen as the RG34XX, but now as a Clamshell. A bit confusing to make it more better for GBA games but then provide analog sticks but whatever.

Similar to the Arc-D/Arc-S being perfect for MegaDrive, the RG 34XX is perfect for GBA. The screen is the right ratio for all your GBA games and asides from two extra buttons matches the original model. Comes in at $70.

If I can confirm it runs on ArkOS's ancient Linux kernel, may push to Portmaster.

These aren't so much retro as retro-like. These handhelds are primarily low budget ARM Linux devices jammed into various videogamey frames and sold cheap. This one's the Anbernic RG34XX-SP.
