We identify important genealogical records sets that ought to be in the public domain but which are being wrongly restricted by government archives, libraries, and agencies. Folks waiting on BIRLS requests from the VA, don't give up hope. I just got three letters confirming receipt (after 9 weeks). They can't find the file on one of those vets, but I'll be getting files for a great uncle and his son. Genealogy happy dance. #ancestry #genealogy #familyresearch #veterans

Thanks to ReclaimTheRecords it’s now free and easy to order US Veterans Benefit Claim files (aka C-Files). I have submitted a half dozen FOIA requests since the announcement. It may take months to actually get the docs but im looking forward to what I learn
