Given that I was so impressed by the Thompson Bros Edinburgh and Glasgow grain #Whisky releases, it would have been rude not to complete the set with this “Ross-Shire Dram” of 34yo Invergordon. It’s setting a high bar for 2026!!!

Last Saturday on a Landcare cleanup over at the Ross Creek Reserve, we found a nice patch of onion-orchids, mixed with sun orchids, in an area cool burnt by the Shire Council staff last year. Less pleasing was finding South African weed orchid (Disa bracteata) nearby (foreground in photo). /2

Highland Council has objected to a proposed wind farm in Ross-shire village #SCT
A planning application to build a nine-turbine wind farm near a Ross-shire village has been met with an objection from Highland Council. The local authority has lodged its opposition to the proposed Carn Fearna wind farm, to be situated near Garve. A letter detailing the local authority’s response notes that it objected on the grounds that the development would negatively impact the surrounding environment, including Ben Wyvis. But the application falls under section 36, which means a final decision on . . .

On a separate matter, do they not have proofreaders at the Ross-shire Journal?

Here's a rather more correct version . .

It's also worth noting that the figures are talking about the Inverness, Skye and West Ross-shire constituency and that includes a big swathe of the Lib Dem supporting west coast which Holyrood's Inverness & Nairn does not.

So the Lib Dems may be winning there, but they're not winning HERE.

BTW, I definitely think we should bring back Ross-Shire, just for those of us of the Friends generation. And we should introduce a Rachel-Shire, Joey-Shire, etc too 😎

I just checked (no snark, this genuinely is how I want to spend Sunday morning) and Ross-Shire was abolished in 1889.

Apparently Aberdeen is counted as a county so I think you have a case about Inverness-Shire. I am going to have a word with that pub quiz master. The result was rigged! 😂

I'm terrible at the division of Great Britain, The United Kingdom and so on, but I think Ross-shire and Inverness-shire also count. Unless the map I'm checking didn't make them up. Ross-shire sounds made up, that's a guy in Friends.
