Hello. I’m delighted to announce that the new Riggwelter album, “Past Imperfect”, is now available on Bandcamp! There’s a CD (with a lyric booklet) and also a 96k/24bit download. We’d really appreciate it if you’d give it a listen and maybe buy a copy? Thanks.

My most old fashioned belief is that there should be negative consequences when politicians lie to voters.

Only 103 episodes to go before I get to this one. 😆

It really was excellent. Would recommend seeing either of these fine musicians if you get the chance.

What an excellent night!

Frankie Archer, with support from Ellie Ford.

And some very special cherubs…

Actually that should be "Could he BE any more creepy?" shouldn't it??

Could he BE any creepier?

The really scary thing is I didn't even have to look that up - as soon as you mentioned it, I could sing it. The stuff I have lurking round my head is ridiculous - I mean, that must be over 50 years ago! 😆

"We're the witches of hallowee-ee-een
The ugliest you've ever seen
We fly around at night
And give you such a fright
We're the witches of halloween"

That one?

We were discussing the other day an anti drink driving campaign in Ireland which encouraged people not to have that fifth pint of Guinness before driving home 🫣

There is a LAW, unwritten maybe, that anytime any TV channel screens All The President’s Men, you MUST watch it.

Thank you BBC Four, I will not now be getting to bed until 00:45.

Can’t remember the last time I watched something on the BBC… 🤔

Andrew’s “500 Songs” episode on Little Richard had me go and seek out biographies. Must give this a watch.

Saw this in the cinema when it came out, and as I recall it genuinely is one of the few documentaries about a musician worth watching.

The 2024 Little Richard documentary, I Am Everything, is currently streaming on C4 in the UK. Ignore the usual talking heads who appear at the start as this is excellent. Particularly good on the "queer" subculture of the American South. youtu.be/4YC8WUrWtZY?...

I second @mole9.bsky.social’s Peter Gabriel comments. Its a show which would usually be a no brainer and we discussed it for a while when tickets were announced. But even the restricted views were £95 or thereabouts in Manchester. Add to that travel and hotels and it wasn’t a viable proposition.

Congrats on your first million, Shirley- may there be many more!

And then, once folk have watched the video, they should head over to Bandcamp and buy your EP, which has the song Hermione on it!

In Discworld, cities thrive because they welcome dwarfs, trolls, vampires, and humans alike. Ankh-Morpork works because everyone belongs. Funny how fiction can seem more humane than policy sometimes.

Dad’s books are full of empathy, common sense, and a healthy suspicion of the powerful. But at its heart his work is also about how systems keep people poor while pretending it’s their own fault. So I hope Kemi’s taking notes as well as reading the jokes.

I think it is for most independent musicians. Breaking even on a release is a delusional dream.

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:

Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."
