I understand the frustration people feel about losing a genuine digital global “town square,” because that is a loss! But I would suggest directing that frustration toward the guy who purchased the entire town square and inverted every one of its principles, not the folks who left when he did so

Can't really add anything else about Rob Reiner that hasn't already been said, but what I will say is that one weekend when I was at college, BBC2 showed Spinal Tap and literally every single one of us watched for the first time and quoted it relentlessly until we graduated. Absolute magic, that.

I know it's not exactly a new or exciting take to have, but waking up every day and seeing institutions completely shitting the bed and handing whatever frothing right wing newspaper another easy win makes you feel like fucking Frank Grimes running round the nuclear plant losing his mind.

Being bombarded with AI slop and internet detritus all day means these small books of really beautiful moments from everyday life become *way* more important. I'm a big fan of Iain's work, so just sitting with these images is like dunking yourself into a warm bath on a shit day.
'Fragments Vol.2' by @iainsarjeant.bsky.social has arrived from the printers! 🔥

A massive thank you to everyone who picked one up... your books will be with you very soon.

Still a handful of copies available for £19 each here - anotherplacepress.bigcartel.com/product/frag...

Someone on a fairly big label, with their own PR, manager and booking agent said something similar to me with a straight face once - they were "jealous" that I did everything myself lol. My next release was a run of 100 CDrs which got zero press. Halcyon days.
"There's never been a better time to go independent!"

You know that lots of folks in the indie trenches still make zero sales past initial funding and are absolutely ignored by reviewers?

Yeah, never better.

You know Spotify is run by shitheads because I'm willing to bet somewhere in that company they let this happen on purpose just for the bantz, just for a news item where they'd try and look a bit edgy, but I mean they just come off as the least inspiring bunch of cunts you could possibly imagine.
