Very much so. As the #5 (+/-1) economy in the world, and US leader in GDP, GDP/capita, growth, ... and techbrobillionaires, and its geographic isolation - part of its success is the distance, literal and metaphorical, from NY and DC. We face Asia, as much as the Eastern Seaboard.

If one has read his writings and that of other TechBroBillionaires, that's true. BIG problem: their tech is bought by companies that make things. Without people to BUY those things, the makers go bust, and tech goes bust. Oh, they can shuffled bitcoin among them, but not long term. Ooops.

Just curious: when you say “older” what age / age range / generation are you talking about? Unfortunately the tech industry is dominated by the culture of #techbrobillionaires who are morally bankrupt, see empathy and kindness as weakness and whose main motivation is money 🤷♀️
