Oh this looks like fun. Seems like they essentially rolled in some of the mods folks have been doing on uvk5's

A new kiddo in family: a 2nd hand UV-K5(8) to keep company to my UV-K6.

So, I can check the bands out, make comms and check custom firmwares out to found the best grip for me.

Also I just received the famous Nagoya antenna, right testing it.

Tentec Rebel open source Adruino based 20/40m QRP transceiver. Still the nicest radio I own in many respects.

AnyTone 878uvii just had a firmware update and now has satellite features on top of DMR and APRS.

everything from trunked to P25, but that usually ends up locked onto a single channel while the others are used for listening to adjacent comms, which is where the radtel really shines.

I had tried a UVK5 and 860 and even with custom firmware I could never get it to hear anything...

Well, the egzumer firmware upgrade for the UVk5 went well, after, as prompted, I correctly opened the serial port on the Linux laptop.

My new UVK5!

Any chance just scanning the two bands you can hear any transmissions, even if just digital noise? That would at least confirm the radios have ears there :)

The other radtel and uvk5 were as deaf as could be. You could program in the channel but 0 reception even with new firmware.

Woohoo! The pair of Quansheng UV-K5(8) ham radios that I ordered have arrived! Already got one for "normal" use, so these two are going to become a crossband repeater (UHF/VHF) so that I can get on a nearby local repeater without hovering by my window like a weirdo.

Hey! I'd really appreciate it if you could tell me if the thing receives 800mhz and 39mhz decently.

I tried the UVk5 and Radtell 860 and both were absolutely deaf, whereas my UV9DPlus from Wouxun listens great on 800.

Before flashing #AubsUK on your UV-K5, take in mind you no longer edit the bands memories channel w/ CHIRP.

Scanning lists it's a good feature, running as expected

But I'll prefer wait 'til the mod will be more mature (00.07 version) and being fixed this glitch.
