That's interesting. What was that from? I went with the orientation of UrSkek breaking in ur-Skek -> urRu-Skeksis. So urSu + SkekSo would be SuSo.

Surely that would be the other way around for the play on words to work? The urSkek name was formed by combining the urRu name and the Skeksis name without the ur and Skek prefixes in that order. I know this from checking one of my four copies of World of the Dark Crystal (no, really).

The Skek part comes from their name UrSkek. But the -sis could be a Greek suffix turning a name into an action. That would give the plural -ses.
Pronouncing it Skek-seas feels comfortable. If they used Skeksis and Skekses in the film or series, then it would be difficult to hear the difference.
