#WFRP3E
Oooh I dunno. I've not spotted a game with ropey probability since WFRP3e back in 2008
January 30, 2026 at 5:28 PM
I used to think they had to be the same. I remember reading NPC stat-blocks in WFRP3e and they had abilities that PCs couldn't ever have. That felt WRONG. This was me in the dying stages of my simulationist phase.

Now I don't care. Whatever is easiest for the GM and most fun for the players.

No?

Wfrp3e -> FFG SW -> Genesys
And I consider the SW and Genesys systems "older" systems

We had an expansion come in for WFRP3E, with wound cards that needed to shuffle into the core set wound deck. The color was a little off, and we were upset. And then on closer examination we discovered that the core set wound deck backs did not match THEMSELVES within the same box, so whatever.

WFRP3e birthday in 2 days apparently!

Wfrp3e supremacy

Used in Shadow of the Weird Wizard (and I'm guessing Shadow of the Demon Lord)

Also used in WFRP3e (boon = white dice, bane = black dice)

Give me Wfrp3e or give me death.
August 7, 2025 at 5:29 PM
Spot on. Look at the crowds lambasting D&D4e and WFRP3e for their 'MMO' mechanics, in the past. In that MMOs grew from RPGs and their emulation on PCs, you would have thought offering a gateway for our digital cousins to return to the fold would have been offered, but that gate was slammed shut.

WFRP3e curious?

This is a fricking AMAZING deal. Three unopened scenario box sets, good adventures and lots of gubbins.

Genesys / FFGSW / Wfrp3e has similar spend a boon to add an advantage dice to another heroes next pool.

Oh no. Someone is ebaying WFRP3e for £10.

Telling myself I don't need a third copy of everything...

Thanks for reminding me, I'm definitely going to prep a WFRP3e con game for this year.

Genesys is just WFRP3e with the nameplate and serial number filed off 😉

The best game copy ever was all the placeholder text Andrew Navaro put on the WFRP3E slipcover as proof-of-concept. "Are you ready to kill some fucking RATS!?" "Are you ready to fight some rats with some other fucking DUDES!?"

Copy of WFRP3e Hero's Call popped up on ebay. In the US, still in shrink wrap, but also open at the top.

Sadly, doesn't have any of the cards, which is basically the only reason for buying a WFRP3 product.

I'll keep waiting...

WFRP3e was slated by many as it threw away the mechanics of the previous two (classic) editions and went in an entirely new direction, one that leveraged FFG's board game production capacity to have STUFF.

Loads of cards, tokens, fancy dice, and character standees. Gorgeous. But very fiddly.

#RPGaDay2024 Day 13 Evocative Locations

Loads of games have interesting, weird and wonderful settings

But I love mechanics, so I'm leaning on Evocative Locations that are mechanically supported by an RPG.

It's WFRP again, and specifically it's one of the many innovations in FFG's WFRP3e

Defo agree with this. I was rereading WFRP3e last week, and this is a horrible grimy disease-ridden chaos infected world; the PCs are created with mostly mundane careers; why the hell are they off doing adventurer stuff? It makes no sense!

Just bought a 2nd WFRP3e boxed set on eBay.

Thought I'd bid to get spare cards.

Never expected to win for £20, including postage. Was £100 new, 15 years ago.

Feel a bit sad. It's a super game, but no-one loves it.
