As I transition from 'that place' it struck me I should warn people who follow me what they might be letting themselves in for?

- Luke warm opinions on RPGs
- Capsule comments on our RPG sessions
- Pics of adequately painted minis
- Tiny bit of promotion for my blogs/Patreon
- Geordie dad humour

At the weekend, I was challenged about what I liked so much about Daggerheart. I couldn't really put it into words, but after some reflection, now I can.

It does things I want to do in a game like that, in the way I want to do them, so I can work with the system rather than fight against it

Sorted

Everyone is an expert on everything, because everything in their head is perfect and reality is a deviation from that perfection.

Rare footy post: weird commentary last night, criticising AG for not doing enough in the game, over a montage of his crosses from the left, being missed by Kane et al. I pondered at the time, who is playing on the right? I honestly couldn't tell. It was Saka. He was anonymous. No-one cared.

Once I realised we weren't getting some Earth-X invasion or anything like that, I really leaned into it and enjoyed it a lot. There were enough DC reveals to keep my comic nerd happy too, which was nice.

What I mean is the review is of the convention. If you're talking about the pros and cons of a specific system that's not the convention.

It's like doing a restaurant review and then rating it on the quality of the conversation you had with your dining partners?

Geordie sheep then?

Is it time for 'the talk'?

Ok, when a mammy sheep and a daddy sheep love each other very much....

Overthinking?

I think if you're going to review cons the last thing you should do is review the games. They are non-replicable moments in time. The structure, facilities etc of the con are ongoing.

The efforts of you and the rest of the organisers are always appreciated. This years Furnace was majestic

Oh no, it was always that tense.

My kid has a more consistent, active gaming life than I do. She sometimes graces our presence at cons but the idea of playing with The Father is not entertained locally

On the off chance that England win the ICC Women's World Cup, can we just have the BBC SPOTY Team Award go to the concept of English Women's Sport please?

Husky voice, good natter. Great to hear Ben back on the 'cast. Happy to be one of those old school patrons and 'friends of the cast' and best of luck for the next 200!

Yes. This. I read it, thinking it would be some seminal work of fantasy fiction, and it turned out to be really quite dull.

I have only ever ready 1 David Eddings book, about five years ago, and I laughed. I have never read Robert Jordan either. I have never read a Drizzt book, or any of the Dragonlance books.

I have no appreciation for prog rock, or indeed any 70s rock apart from those on a Dad's Rock comp.

Where do I start? There's a big slice of the 90s that I missed between uni, my first job (which was a lot of night work) and marriage/kids. Think X-Files, Alias etc. and then stretch into Lost and 24.

I have never seen a Predator film. I only watched my first 'horror' movie on Saturday.

Blakes 7?

...avoid it. So dissent on any topic is avoided. So we all start violently agreeing with each other, in our need to say something. Anything.

Sometimes its OK to watch and listen. To not comment (see me on Facebook for the last 12 years...)

Not all comms has to be flowing all the time.

The thing about social media is the balance between social and media, right?

The current environment is all media, very little social. So much space taken up by AI nonsense, so little useful conversation. In the spaces where talk is done, deviation is conflict and we are so tired of conflict we ...

This is one of my qualms about cruises. Going on a holiday is a big thing for me still. It takes up a lot of personal thrust. Having to book and do excursions during that is terrifying to me!

I feel like I'm pretty good at spotting the slop, but there was one where I was totally sucked in by it because it looked so bloody real it shocked me.

... the community. I really like that in a game. It's like the anti-murder hobo mentality. We don't kill things and take their stuff, we reinvest salvage into the local community and solve problems for them.

Someone has been using lizardfolk as slaves ... we might need to knock on some doors!

...a new home for our ramshackle group, and a means of traveling around the coast. Our giant has a home, our pirate has a ship and our wizard has a library room.

Moreover, we now have a place in the Saltmarsh community. We're not mercenaries, but rather new locals with a proper stake in ...

Another session of #daggerheart Saltmarsh with @eddieap76.bsky.social

Naturally, we looked at a formerly haunted house with a route to the sea, and our captured cutter, and thought 'location, location, location!'

Some stellar negotiation, copious uses of prestidigitation and giant power, and we..

...seemingly endless under-floor and between walls crawl spaces and runways! That house must be draughty as hell!

The demonologist/psychic set up was cool though. I think the next one is in the UK (?) so my Liminal senses might start tingling.
