A bit late to the party again, but I got a reminder. There is more to this little story but the form dictated the result, so definitely leaving more unsaid, but it says what I wanted it to say. I was about ten when this happened, and there was a lot going on.

This poem ebbs and flows like the tide itself. Rich, rhythmic, and deeply immersive. Each image is a treasure, from ‘rope-calloused hands’ to the ‘snail, hugging the world.’ A meditation on time, loss, and discovery, all wrapped in salt and poetry. Sublime. #KeepWriting #PoemsAbout #WordsUnsaid

The contrast between silence and screaming words hits hard, a quiet agony. That final image feels devastatingly real. A gripping take on regret. #KeepWriting #PoemsAbout #WordsUnsaid

Powerful. The trees hum with wisdom, while silence holds its own aching language. That ‘trapped butterfly’ image is so delicate, yet so devastating. A plea wrapped in nature’s resilience, longing for sound where quiet lingers. Utterly haunting. #KeepWriting #PoemsAbout #WordsUnsaid

This is razor-sharp. The weight of unspoken truths, the emptiness of polite conversation, the way real words only surface in crisis—it all lands so hard. Brilliantly crafted. #KeepWriting #PoemsAbout #WordsUnsaid

This is heartbreak wrapped in tenderness. The imagery is so delicate: breath on glass, a presence lingering beyond absence. Love here isn’t just remembered; it’s alive in the quiet rituals of waiting, of seeing. Hauntingly beautiful. #KeepWriting #PoemsAbout #WordsUnsaid

Breathtaking tension woven into every line, each detail a quiet ache. The contrast between the intimate, unraveling moment and the vast, indifferent world outside is stunning. Subtle, sharp, unforgettable. #KeepWriting #PoemsAbout #WordsUnsaid

A reckoning and a release. The imagery of constraint, of imposed silence, is so powerful, but the shift towards reclaiming voice feels like a quiet revolution. That ending is pure liberation. Breathtaking. #KeepWriting #PoemsAbout #WordsUnsaid

Short but scorching. This simmers with regret, longing, and the weight of words that only ever built walls. That last line? A dagger. Sometimes, action speaks louder than any apology. Powerful stuff. #KeepWriting #PoemsAbout #WordsUnsaid

Exquisite. This flows with the quiet force of a river pushing against its own constraints, unspoken words brimming with urgency, like fish leaping upstream. The contrast between silence and the wild, untamed voice is electrifying. Crack the dam. Let it speak. #KeepWriting #PoemsAbout #WordsUnsaid

Every line drips with desire, the ink itself burning with longing. 'Fast sketched fleshscapes' what an intoxicating phrase, capturing urgency and artistry in a single breath. Obsession never felt so elegantly fevered. #KeepWriting #PoemsAbout #WordsUnsaid

For #PoemsAbout #WordsUnsaid, I tweaked an old piece I've been thinking about a lot lately.
The "she" here is my childhood BFF, Frances, who died suddenly at age 29.
I'm allergic to oranges now but I think of Frances every time Noah Kahan sings to me about "Orange Juice."
Which is a lot.

In response to this prompt I dug out and reworked a very old one that appeared in an anthology in 1986(!) Perhaps I should have left it in peace. PS that was a very interesting evening at the @brokenspinearts.bsky.social open mic last night! Greetings to all those who read

This is beautifully raw. Love, regret, and the urgency of saying what matters before it’s too late. Every line aches with truth. The choice to put love into words, to place it in someone’s hands, is powerful. A poem that lingers long after reading. #KeepWriting #PoemsAbout #WordsUnsaid
