Ich gehöre als Baptistin zur Familie der kongregationalistischen baptistischen Freikirchen. Das heißt: kein Klerus, kein kirchlicher Oberbau, jede Gemeinde ist autonom und keine Kindertaufe.
Dieses freikirchliche Modell haben unter anderem auch Mennoniten, Freie Evangelische Gemeinden, Brüdergemeinden, Adventgemeinden und die meisten Pfingstgemeinden. Aber trotz dieser Gemeinsamkeiten gibt es teils erhebliche Unterschiede zwischen Baptisten, Mennoniten, Brüdergemeinden, Freien Evangelischen Gemeinden, Adventisten und Pfingstlern.
