I am an akesumi enjoyer for many reasons but one of the main ones is that sumi CAN give akechi the kindness and tenderness which he does need and which I simply don’t believe he’ll ever fully accept from akiren. a futurefic for the royal trio ot3 story I wrote would be basically just this.
I also laugh every time sumi comforts him about it. like yes you’re a dick and everyone can tell but that’s all right! you probably have redeeming qualities! maybe!

as for akesumi... oh boy. it's so complicated. i don't ship them romantically because i genuinely don't see akechi as anything else than a gay man. limiting, but that's how it is. i don't even think they'd work on a romantic standpoint on the same basis that i quoted to say i can't imagine ryugoro+
