The first mural I ever painted (1997) was at the Dudley Museum & Art Gallery. Part of the mural featured a pliosaur; I reworked the pliosaur pose in my 2009 "Leviathan" painting for The Etches Collection.

For #fensterfreitag here's one of several window-based murals you can find in Invergordon, Scotland. There's a mural trail in the town and I managed to find quite a few of the street art pieces during a short visit there in 2024.

I visited the Detroit Institute of Art in 2024 and was able to walk through the Diego Rivera atrium, which contained four walls personally painted by Rivera. The DIA offered him one wall for a mural. Rivera said “No. I like the light in here. I’m painting the whole room.” Truly astonishing result.

It’s exciting to be walking in the footsteps of John Brown at Harpers Ferry, where he captured the federal armory in 1859 in an attempt to eradicate slavery from the United States. We saw this 1939 painting by John Stuart Curry recently at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC.
