'There is a willow grows aslant a brook,
That shows his hoar leaves in the glassy stream;
There with fantastic garlands did she come
Of crow-flowers, nettles, daisies, and long purples'

everybody is talking about Wood today and I love this because I want to hear everybody's thoughts on Wood too!!! here's mine: ophelia fell from a willow after a branch broke, so it would be a total swiftian return to narrative in the willow (wood) that once was a good thing, that could take anything

It’s quite alright, I thought it was a slightly aslant response but I am not one to judge a slant.

It's a war novel, but not: it's secret histories, paranoia that reveals, psychic military units, things at the edges rather than a Big History with Heroes or a technical treatise. It's aslant to all of that, and I begin to understand why some contemporary readers disliked it. (Spoilers in link)

It is this deep blankness is the real thing strange.
The more things happen to you the more you can't
Tell or remember even what they were.
The contradictions cover such a range.
The talk would talk and go so far aslant.
You don't want madhouse and the whole thing there.

I've always found Van Essen's style diagrams very hard to parse. I gave it a stab. Please tell me what you think. PS: I removed one of the three branches of the frontal aslant track, which had the exact same terminations. PPS: I messed minimally with layout, but moved things for clarity.
