My goal for this year is to read a book a month—maybe a month and a half to two months depending on length. These books are ones that I never got around to reading, dnf’d, or just haven’t read in a while. I’m going to try and read them all by October. Wish me luck.

Finished my second book of the year 🤘🏻 was a fun short book and I really like the way Tchaikovsky played with language between the characters, it was very cool. Otherwise it was a very merlin and Arthur tale I found with tech being perceived as magic by the locals #books #readers #reading #scifi

Yesterday I spoke at the final One County One Book launch. Over 6 years, they grew from 7k books (year 1) to 15k books last year. Now closing due to budget cuts.

My message: Isolation is the enemy of possibility. 15,000 families reading the same book, same time? That's community infrastructure.

Stop showing me books that interest me because I will probably never get around to reading them right now and it makes me sad. :^(

Any opinion about whether it would work as an audiobook? I increasingly think the only way to find enough time to do more reading is to listen to books in addition to, you know, actual reading with my eyes.

Literally can not die soon enough in my books. On the dais during state of the union would be awesome.

Looking forward to "reading a few obituaries with great satisfaction"

These LLM AI things didn't just learn from 'reading' popular books, they MEMORIZED them and with a prompt of the first sentence can repeat them back to you. (!)

Why are you trying to lower our aspirations much less using shitty Wikipedia instead of reading books. Siegfried Nacht, Walter Benjamin, Rosa Luxemburg are just three sources that have a consensus against the one source that Wikipedia uses to reduce the aspirations of revolutionaries!

Today I spent 6 hrs in local libraries learning more about capital punishment and non-binary identity. Scored some discarded library books for $2.
Required reading.

I love your work, but I think this Reddit comment responding to your piece best sums it up.

And on that note, it has never once stopped me from devouring my favorite books. The neck cricks are worth the process of uncrackening.

Reading comprehension scores are tanking, and fewer Americans are picking up books. But practicing deep reading can help you process content more carefully and keep you from falling for misinformation, write JT Torres and Jeff Saerys-Foy. theconversation.com/deep-reading...

Somehow Reddit landed me in the middle of the female Custodes discussion.

And holy shit are dudes who play with little plastic figurines and spend their time reading books about a satirical science fiction universe convinced they're the manliest men who ever manned.

I'm in the minority here. I'm 69 years old and there are more books I want to read than I will ever be able to read. In the past 3 years I have divested about 95% of my library for free. I want others to get the same pleasure I did reading them for the first or fifth time.

These are the books that got me regularly reading comics back in 2013-2014. Love them all, read them multiple times, still salty that Southern Bastards never got an ending though.

I've had an agent only implement half of the plan and stub the rest out with "NotImplemented" errors because it was "a lot of work".

It's very funny how they've learned human dev laziness from reading our books and code!

I have read a dozen books on fascism since trump got elected. This was one of the books. I would like to recommend my favorite fascism books - called The Enemy at the Gates by Tony Ankers.

I just cant stop reading these books, clearly comparing us with what happened in the last century.

Reading “Get A Life, Chloe Brown” when you also have fibromyalgia is heart breaking and soothing at the same time. I'm very thankful for authors who include characters with chronic illness.

Happy Publication Day! 🎉 This little book is out in the world today. Parts of it are Open Access, thanks to a small publication grant from Taiwan's research council. www.taylorfrancis.com/books/mono/1...

A student came up to me asking where a classroom was and I couldn’t even help her since that building was built after I graduated. 😭

She did leave with a manga and anime rec though since she asked me what I was reading and it was The Other World’s Books Depend on the Bean Counter. 😌

I love books, but I don't always show it. So this year I'm starting a Reading Gratitude Journal. After I finish reading a book, I'm going to write down WHY I AM GRATEFUL for that book.

I'm on a mission to reprogram my nervous system & enjoy books more.
