“Sound, vibration, even a breeze can send our pain levels soaring. This is so hard to convey to healthy people, who have a tendency to think that it can’t be that bad—but it is. #CRPS’ perplexing symptoms are incredibly real to us.” https://buff.ly/pNO6lzb #CRPSAwarenessMonth #NERVEmber

Being dismissed by a doctor doesn’t just hurt feelings.
It can destroy your life. I know- missed fractures gave me CRPS.
Five years later, same foot, same doctor, same dismissal.
Believe patients. Always.

Same Foot, Same Doctor, Same Dismissal: I Heard the Crack Before the Gaslighting, and I’m Still Being Told Bruises Hurt More Than Fractures
Five years ago, a missed fracture led to CRPS and changed my life. Last week, I heard a crack, pop, and crunch- and once again I was told it was “probably just a bruise.” This is what happens when doctors don’t listen, and why being believed can make the difference between healing and lifelong disability.

As we close on #CRPSAwarenessMonth I’d love to leave a reminder of what CRPS is. Here are some symptoms of CRPS. I’ve been to the ER 3 times. Twice I was untreated and stigmatized against. Once I was treated. Please remember not all disabilities are visible!!🔥🧡

However, it’s likely under diagnosed due to doctors being taught to assume symptoms are NOT due to rare conditions. Early intervention is the best way to improve outcomes. Nearly half of people with #CRPS have thought about unaliving and 20% attempt. #CRPSAwarenessmonth

It’s really important to know what this is so you can advocate for yourself or a loved one. It’s rare 200,000 per year in US are impacted #CRPSawarenessmonth
