Its hard for me to do it, but i find writing emotions, thoughts and feelings down. or changing the 'I dont deserve' feelings to, "I deserve" out loud If they are negative to a positive helps a little.
Write a journal, a book that will never be published, or small poetry even if you arent good at it.

Be yourself, but not like that "Be yourself, but not like that, Do as I say, don't be a brat. Be a good girl, soft and meek, Don't take up space, try being discreet. Be yourself, but tone it down, You're too brash, too bold. But smile, don't frown! Your face, it says it all, you know? Hide your emotions; they cannot show! Be social, girl, but not intense. I mean, you're just too much - no offence!" Your charm, your wit, your intellect, Means nought, their comfort trumps respect. But what for us: the odd, the weird? A girl who's different must be feared. Some days it feels you can't fit in, Some days it feels you just can't win. What if the mold they made is there to break? Rise up, we're here, don't be afraid. You may be odd, but you are you, The best you there is, that much is true. One day they'll see, you're just enough, A diamond hidden in the rough. So be yourself, yes, like that. Defy the norms, embrace your path.

Uh grass or something I want to apologize for what I fear may be a barrage of emotions rather than a nice poem and then I want to say no, I don't apologize, but look now I've steered myself off course I want to cry endlessly they're sitting there waiting for some permission that's what childhood was like I guess I'll have to name this therapy sesh or something how did I survive that? I mean you wouldn't know but somehow I did, I guess, I mean I'm here and even as an adult I fear their retaliation their threats of control and she speaks in those moments that we should have done it and then I have to say no life is good, we're okay these are some choppy waves but it's what I've found the best way for me to cope and I mean you're choosing to read it I do too, I mean, read them over and over because I gaslight myself a lot and this is the proof I've ever lived

Full text of “Statement for a Television Program,” by Denise Levertov
Statement for a Television Program The following statement was written in response to an invitation to "comment on any topic, e.g., poetry, women, the war," on a program taped weekly by a major TV network (NBC). I could not in these times choose any "topic" but the war; however, my text (which had to be submitted a week before being taped-and which was written during the interval between Nixon's two televised speeches in May 1972—was rejected. "I feel," wrote the producer, "that, deep as my own emotions are about this futile war, it would be inappropriate for me to use it at this time. My decision is shaped not by your piece-you write so very movingly -but by the number of Vietnam statements we have already had on the program. They cover a wide range of attitudes and angles, and with them I effected a coverage and balance which I think best to let stand." It seems to me that a "balanced" view of genocide and of actions which are leading directly toward the extinction of life on earth is itself a kind of insanity. It is evident, moreover, that a program that first invites people to speak on whatever they feel it is important to say, and then rejects their words in the name of "balanced coverage," is a little short on sincerity. Here is my statement: I have been asked to speak on this program because I am a poet. One of the obligations of the writer, and perhaps especially of the poet, is to say or sing all that he or she can, to deal with as much of the world as becomes possible to him or her in language. I and most of my fellow American poets nowadays find ourselves inevitably-of necessity-writing more and more poems of grief, of rage, concerning the despoilment of the earth and of all life upon it, of the systematic destruction of all that we feel passionate love for, both by the greed of industry and by the mass murder we call war. We are living at war: the shame and horror 123 of being citizens of the country which, in its ruthless imperialism, is not only ravaging Southeast Asia but, with its military bases, its Polaris submarines, the machinations of its CIA, and the tentacles of its giant corporations, is everywhere the prime force of antilite and oppression-this shame and horror cast their shadow over all we say, feel, and do. The spring sunshine, the new leaves: we still see them, still love them: but in what poignant contrast is their beauty and simple goodness to the evil we are conscious of day and night. And this evil, this blight, this war in which our whole lives are being spent, is present at home, here in the U.S., as well as abroad, in the form of racism, of gross injustice, of poverty and hunger in the midst of the very richest country in the world. As corrupt and self-seeking politicians erode the Constitution and bring us daily closer to outright fascism, the poet is turned away from his impulse to sing, to testify in patterns of words to the miracle of life, and is driven willy-nilly to warn, to curse, to gnash the teeth of language; and at the same time, living always in the war shadow, to celebrate the courage and high spirit of all who dare to struggle, Davids to the Goliaths of capitalism (the expres sion of man's greed) and imperialism (the expression of man's lust for power); to celebrate the courage and tenacity of the so-called "enemy" in Southeast Asia, and of all who here at home resist the system—people like Angela Davis, Dan and Phil Berrigan, Cesar Chavez; and to declare solidarity with them and with all who share their struggle. Poets differ from other people only in having a specially intimate relation to words. When I say I speak as a poet, it is the same as to say I speak as a human being. In the name of humanness, then, I call on my fellow humans to stop the war; but not to think that by stopping the present slaughter in Vietnam we will have done the job-for that slaughter is only one manifestation of t… stop the bombing tomorrow if every individual who would like to see an end to U.S. involvement would say No Business as Usual and ACT on those words. It is our own timidity that makes us feel powerless. If we acted to bring about a general strike and economic boycott, we would see we have more power than we think. But even if we stop the bombing and get rid of Nixon, let us understand that though it would be a beginning-and a good one—it would be ineffectual unless it led to a thorough change-outward and inward, institutional and personal—of the system Nixon and his bombs are part of. Stop the bombing. Declare peace. Change the system.

These are excellent. I'll go back and comment more once I'm not grinding thesis but the last one filled me with intense emotions of all kinds. Man, I'be been missing good poetry and this really reminded how good a good poem can be so thank you for that

I know how much it hurts to fall for someone only to discover they aren’t who you think they are. I’m so glad I escaped and can write poetry to process those emotions.

We thirst and we strive to make the world a better place for ourselves and the ones we care about. We speak, in gestures and words, to try to express emotions held never far beneath the surface of our selves. We laugh. We sing. We hurt. We cry. We rejoice at our triumphs and despair when our best has not been good enough and loss threatens to destroy our well-kept world laying waste to all that we have built. We hate. We love. We envy and we admire. We disdain and we respect. And though what we experience as beauty and ugliness may differ, we see them both and know them, in changing ways, throughout our lives. There is a common thread that binds us each to each no matter our beliefs, our thoughts, or our preconceptions. We breathe. We bleed and underneath our hearts beat out the rhythm of our lives until they beat no more. Each of us is precious, for we are the only one of our kind. When we are gone our kind is extinct with all that we were vanished from the Earth. We are the same. You cannot change this no matter the attempt, despite any effort to alter what is plainly known. Black. Brown. Red. Yellow. White. We are all one under the skin.

I LOVE THAT that’s what poetry is best for honestly. And it’s a super healthy way to process emotions. Dark poems are always sick asf (in a good way) they can produce such interesting imagery and sounds. Here’s a few dark poems I wrote

Poetry is subjective because it is art - each piece's meaning and value are shaped by an individual's personal feelings, emotions, and interpretations, which vary from person to person.

Although he was not familiar with that saying, he could perceive that _fucking_ in a sentence could not have semantic sense but could express negative emotions. They used to say something similar, but not with strangers. “Apologies…”— She said and blushed. “Oh, good. I apologise to my kidnapper.”— her hands flapped on her hips in disbelief for herself. She looked back at Julius. He was tall, had white long hair and a grey beard. A face that expressed fatherly protection. Something she realised, she did not recognise for her entire life. She sat back on the bed. Took a big breath in. Then asked: “What do I do now? I want to go back, please. Please get me back. Everyone must be freaking out at home.” “Take your time. When you are ready, I will show you the portal. You will believe me then. And decide for yourself. Then, if you stay, we can discuss how we can bring you where we need to go.”

A good reads review of my book I Am In Bed With You. Review says: What's the power of poetry? It is, I think, in expanding one's own knowledge of language, one's own appreciation for the power of language. Thinking through language and through emotion are two key parts of both reading and writing. Emma Barnes' collection is sublime, a delightful mess of emotions and images that I found myself getting lost in. If everything was written with this much care and thought and effort, we'd be in a much better place, I think. I felt very seen by this work. Thanks to the person who recommended this to me, I deeply appreciate it <3

Which isn’t to say those books are bad. I own some of those.

But poetry is such a good written medium for expressing emotions. Something about its rhythm and structural constraints just sorta forces writers to have to carefully craft each line, pick each word.
