#etrike
Agreed. I ride a class 2 etrike. I do not have OR WANT a driver's license, as I do not have OR WANT a car. I would actually be significantly more dangerous to the public if forced to go through driving training, as it would require me to be behind the wheel of an actual car.

This is not the right approach... I own two legal E-bikes that are capable of Class 3 speeds (28 mph while pedaling) but never really go that fast. Yes E-bike safety should be addressed for younger riders but don't punish the slower class 1 and 2 E-bike owners.

First Etrike ride today, we bought wife one first. Used it for shopping today, went well. Learning a little as I ride it. Couple more rides before I decide if Im getting the same or something else.

I have an American flag flag on my etrike in part because I thought it might help me not to get run over. But you are right that we need to take it back from the fascists.

Well that caused a minor panic, I looked out my window and saw the tarp on my etrike had blown part way off. There was snow on the handlebars and most of the forward section.Thankfully nothing on the motor or the battery rack. I went and brushed what I could off and covered it back up.

It's worth considering, as an eTrike might work. If I lived in an area where I could rent one to try, that would be ideal. I miss it so much. It's been about 8 years since I've been able to ride, but I can't part with my lonely bike.

Is an eBike or eTrike an option?

Ordered first etrike today, wife picked her color. Will make sure we like and then get another one. New chapter in life for sure.

I have a few things on my wishlist that we need. There's a great etrike on there for a reasonable amount that would be great for my transportation needs.
Thanks again in advance 🙏

My class two recumbent eTrike might be heavy enough to do some of that type of damage.
January 8, 2026 at 1:26 AM
I haven't put it together yet, but I bought an eTrike.

I already have a street bike and a mountain bike, but even with panniers they're not ideal for shopping, so... an eTrike can carry quite a bit of cargo and people who have them say they're fun and the savings in gas pays for the bike so... 😀🚲

I had four months off the etrike in the middle of the year, due to lackadaisical supplier, insurance etc after the first trike was written off after crash-I wasn’t hurt. It was weird to live without the trike for so long. But you don’t forget how to ride! Best wishes for your family rides in 2026 ❤️

Pioneers Pass is ready for take off! Thanks @cityofwinnipeg.bsky.social for the excellent snow clearing job on NorthEast Pioneers Greenway. It made my 13 km of errands today so much easier and more enjoyable. & One less car on the road creating traffic and collisions. #bike #trike #etrike

And having a disability does not necessarily preclude cycling as a mobility option. I use an etrike.

"Even e-cars are built with and rely on fossil fuel energy."
Not necessarily.
Yes, maybe require fossil fuels to build, but output depends on energy source. Same for #ebikes . I traveled 450kms on my #etrike solely on energy from the sun.

the torque must come in here somehow?
I looked it up and my super heavy duty Bosch cargo motor maxes out at 750W and its fine for getting 100s of pounds of me plus cargo trike etc up a super steep hill (its not fast). I do notice the torque which is higher than my previous etrike

Ah, pedantry. I ride a 3 wheeled etrike. But am absolutely a bike rider and don't need to specific how many wheels I have

It's fine if you need a different word because you are focused on wheel count

These aren't trucks. They don't move unless you make your legs go in little circles

#India and #China can and do, do this.

It may be basically an #etrike with a rain hood, but that's fine.
If car companies were smart, they would make 1 low cost car in their lineup, and keep the design for at least 5 years to lower costs. We are rapidly transferring people into poverty. A $5000 car with a good design and low cost replacement parts would be a huge assist to the poor.

Also, not everyone can be expected to drive. Further, I have a recumbent etrike that I can use even if/when I am too injured to walk. Trikes add to the number of people who can engage in micromobility.
