Super excited to work on this Fujitsu FM Towns II UG20 computer/game console thing. I had never even heard of it before someone contacted me to work on theirs. Saturday's noon eastern stream will be Part 1: disassembling the thing in preparation for recapping. youtube.com/live/6BAx3hp...

Good memories from #QConSF
Conversations about system design tradeoffs, and someone told me they learned about SKIP LOCKED from my talk. That's why I love QCon: the technical exchange, not product pitches.
I now have my second Postgres elephant plushie thanks to

I asked the Met Police's Stephen Clayman who is heading up the #PostOfficeScandal investigation, Operation Olympos, whether he was confortable with Fujitsu supplying tech that investigators use. Read what he said www.computerweekly.com/news/3666356...

Some people need to go to prison over the Post Office scandal.

”… the NPCC previously said persons of interest include Post Office investigators, lawyers, and management across Fujitsu, who made the Horizon computer programme…”

how about a transmeta crusoe?

i am not sure but i suspect the only public implementation was for x86 code. if there were others released then you could run a bunch of different archs. (just don't expect SSE to work)

In Post Mortem, the first forensic account of how the Post Office, the government and Fujitsu ruined the lives of thousands of innocent people, Private Eye's @rbrooks45.bsky.social explains how the scandal became a Ponzi scheme of injustice.

Also, we don’t have a thermostat that can control all our units at once, so it’s all manual — I haven’t been able to find something else that control the four Fujitsu indoor air handling units

Similar story here, though we have been working to optimize a heat pump system (4-head Fujitsu system) that was installed before we bought the house seven years ago. We didn’t disconnect, so most months are just paying $10/month service charge. Heat pump water heater and induction stove.

They spun off the computing division and eventually sold it to a conglomerate that was taken over by.. Fujitsu

So why were post office subpostmasters unjustly prosecuted for theft? Because someone a half century before needed to know how many cakes they had

Fujitsu would pick up the tech and launch its own version of Habitat on Japanese computers, and a shard of Habitat would remain on Quantum Link as Club Caribe, and it's up and running again these days for C64s and emulators.

Something I'll have to see if my WiC64 modem can connect to.

One of those neat historic artifacts that you don't often find on the Japanese internet: A 1996 Fujitsu press release announcing plans to professionalize its company soccer team and push for #JLeague promotion.

That team, of course, became Kawasaki #Frontale.

The artwork of Dungeon Master: Chaos Strikes Back used on the cover of the #NEC #PC98, #Fujitsu #FMTowns, and #Sharp #X68000 releases in Japan. Removed text/logos, applying the usual upscale/clean/retouch process. No clue on the artist, any info let me know!

£41 million! That’s how much more the Post Office has just agreed to pay Fujitsu to keep using the faulty Horizon IT system. It's a slap in the face to all those wrongfully convicted Post Office staff.
