Picked up the Alpha Strike box awhile back final got to painting them all. Painted up the Inner sphere mech in my home brew merc company colors with an independant contractor and some House Steiner as back up. Tried to do Clan Ghost Bear paint job on the Clan stuff. #battletech #miniaturepainting

Had a painting session this afternoon with my partner, painting two of our friends' characters for a modern fantasy noir D&D campaign we're all in. I painted Detective Connors the lizardfolk and my partner painted Detective Finch the elf.

i've picked up a huge number of 40k-y followers in recent months who might not have seen them, so uh

here's the coolest 3d print thing i think i've ever done, a 1980s Sukeban-inspired gang for Necromunda

i'm planning on painting them this year with a diorama base to bring to painting competitions
a 3d render of my ridiculous necromunda orlock proxy gang, 10 figures armed with retro-style 40k weapons. from left to right; the chuuni gunner with heavy stubber and eyepatch, an aloof lasgun gunner smoking a cigarette, an autogunner with a class rep armband, an enthusiastic juvie with jetpack, goggles, and twin heavy flamers, the gang leader with her sunglasses, massive chainsword, bolt pistol, and motorbike, a tall enforcer with a massive studded bat, undercut, and medical mask, a serious gunner with a shogun and fingerless gloves, a plasma gunner with long curtains of hair and a purity seal/paper charm, a ganger with sword and autopistol with a bow in her hair, and a juvie with a laspistol running to the hive war with toast in her mouth close up on the plasma gunner, sword ganger, and juvie, showing off the paper charm, mini-skull charm hanging from the sword, and the fact that toast has jam modelled on it close up on the heavy gunner, lasgunner, and autogunner. i modelled folds in to their socks for fuck's sake. close up on the leader, jetpack juvie, and enforcer, showing off the enforcer's bead belt (and that her skirt has a pocket), the leader's heeled boots, and that the juvie has shorts on under her skirt, vital for jetpack operation.

(these are all traditional paintings I made in 2025, on canvas panels, using casein paint and a cheap $1 brush)
An abstract casein painting that resembles a vertical gap between two rocky and angular forms, with a hazy background of cool gray at the bottom that transitions into a warm golden hue at the top of the painting. A high contrast semi-abstract / surrealist casein painting, of a narrow canyon/valley, from the point of view of being in the canyon, looking toward the horizon. There are seven bright yellow-orange flowers in the canyon, the landscape is highlighted in the same bold color, and there is a low and small crescent moon also in this color. The flowers are huge, more like bushes than typical flowers, and they have no leaves at all (as is the case with almost every flower in my paintings). The sky is dark gray and rust colored, and the darkest shadows in the painting are a very dark reddish purple. An abstract casein painting of a golden-orange form resembling a human, but without any details. Essentially a golden silhouette with dark brown outlines/shadows around it, and five flower-like forms that are light-blue with white highlights. The background is mostly gray, with some swirls of tan highlights and textures that resemble weathering. A vibrant surrealist / semi-abstract casein painting, of a huge form that resembles a blank human face, with a large opening that is roughly skull-shaped, and that allows the viewer to see inside of the huge form. Inside is a red human skull highlighted in bright orange, surrounded by seven pink flower-like forms, and there is a distant opening behind these that suggests a red cavern going into the distance, complete with stalactites and rocky spires that shimmer with highlights of light blue. Outside of the huge face-like form that dominates the composition, are swirling flames, smoke, or energy that are bright orange and light blue. There are also three large blue flowers in the foreground, and in the top-right corner of the painting a very small bright blue crescent moon.

"Keeping an eye out" - Watercolor, old painting....this was my first sheep Abigail. I ended up with a think twelve sheep....lost a couple to coyotes until I got two mini donkeys from a friend. I never lost a sheep again.

One route is block colours and a cheap wood stain varnish.

I did quite a lot of 15mm sci-fi that way when I returned to mini painting.

It can look muddy though so you might want a post varnish touch up - on shields / mail, to help it pop.
