Gay geek bear near Minneapolis. He/him. Single, sorta looking. I write software. Hobbies include tabletop and video games, comic books, furry, 3D printing, scifi and fantasy, and ogling cute bears on the internet.
Opinions are mine and not my employer's.

I haven't dated since February of 2012.

The local bear community has dried up. Bar nights, Fur Flee, website, all gone. Apps seem to just be about hookups, which doesn't grab me.

What's a semi-lonely gay bear with standards to do?

Geekbear in Minneapolis seeks same. Apply below.
Just... one of those days.

Told my manager at our team meeting that I'll be working from home in the near future, whether it's for them or not.

More tidying of the basement. Sorted the tools by purpose into the various tool boxes.

They did another steroid injection in my spine, this time through the front (the needle went in through a spot around my collarbone). It wasn't fun while it was happening, but I think the Lidocaine they injected has worn off and now I can't sleep due to the ache.

Dangit. Couple of disastrous prints resulted in the destruction of both my 3D print heads. Guess I'm headed to Micro Center tomorrow.

Lost one of the beads on my earring, so it flew out while drying off after my shower. Can't find it anywhere. Also just very tired and achy today.

First bench is complete. I had to pick up a stronger nail gun (I just had a staple gun that could do brads, and that didn't have enough kick). My shoulder is still mad at me, so bench 2 will have to wait a while.

Looks like more shots in my future, not in my spine this time at least

Nearly done, just need to nail down the sacrificial layer on the top so it's more easily replaced. I didn't have a hammer in the basement, and my shoulder is hurting again, so I'll finish that up later.

Me: I should go check on my 3D print.
*finds it's spaghetti*
*builds a workbench instead*
Letting the glue dry with some weight on the frame to encourage it to level out, but it's pretty close.

I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

Hilarious horse v. bunny video. :)

In other news, spent a bit of time today moving all the lumber into the basement and prepping it (getting all the boards the same length, gluing up cracks and rotted sections). I'm looking forward to getting started later this week.

I finally pulled the trigger on getting lumber for a workbench project I've been planning for a while. This will eventually be 2 4'x3' workbenches in my basement.

Now, though, my shoulder hurts, because the cortisone injection has not really done much for me yet.

Usha Vance didn’t like her husband suggesting she needed to be fixed. She made him sleep on the couch but for some reason that didn’t work.

I just figured out how to open the screen on my office window, so now I can shoo flies and ladybugs outside instead of swatting them.

Yes, swatting bugs weighs on my conscience, and I try to find ways to send them on their way. I even do that with spiders these days when I can (still arachnophibic)

Watching a PM passive-aggressively throw you under the bus in a shared document in real time is a fun new experience.

Had cortisone injected in my spine to treat a pinched nerve in my neck. Procedure went great. Should hopefully see a difference in a few days.

Felt fine until about 15 minutes ago, now my brain's getting fuzzy (which is to be expected; they didn't want me to drive for this reason).

First decent miniature print I've gotten out of my filament printer. Still not nearly up to what my resin printer can do, but decent, and less messy.

How I stay sane at work. The stress gets overwhelming sometimes and I need to just close my eyes and hug a bear.

I've said that if the bear is gone, I probably am, too. Sometimes it's so tempting to just pick him up and walk out the door, never to return.
