There was a scene of gore in MoLaB that I left blank with a note to myself for nearly the entire time I was writing that book 🤣 Didn't actually write the gore until the verrry end (the scene itself is just shy of the halfway point in a 220K-word novel)

GTI had no 'canvas' and even finding something comparable will be hard until book 2. But MoLaB has an actual painter, so here we go
I grabbed the cloth off one canvas and pulled it away. My eyes bulged open and I quickly put the sheet back on so the children wouldn’t see. It was a painting of me… naked, sexually evocative. She had put a high level of detail into every spine of my cock. I turned to the children. “Um, could you two look away, please? These aren’t things children should see.” Cohaku gulped and turned away. Tynan, confused, grew a pair of thick eyebrows just for the sake of raising one. They must have been so desensitized to sex and violence already that it didn’t faze them. “Please, Your Luminance,” I begged. “I know it sounds silly, but please do it for me. I cannot have it on my conscience that I allowed a child to look at… at this sort of thing.” “I understand,” Tynan said. “I shall remove my eyeballs.” They transformed their face, indeed removing their eyes, leaving empty sockets in their head. I wondered if they were aware of how unnerving that was. Perhaps that was the idea. A merchant of dance should intimidate. I hadn’t meant for them to do that, but… I supposed it worked.

For mine, it's largely a repeat of what Karkki said, where because they don't have mass manufacturing, a lot of it is a non-issue. Moreover, because my people don't pee/poop, that's also a non-issue.

Sometimes! Each book's title indicates the two merchants who are the MCs of that book, and they interact! 😁 Though usually in a more intimate way than as business partners.

Funnily, the example you gave is one that comes up as a 'peculiar scenario' in MoLaB (convo between two merchants of light):
“Oh, you needed adoption papers for Susana too, didn’t you? I’d be happy to sign those, as well.” “You’re legally certified for that, too?” “There was a point in my life where I had an opportunity to become licensed in many legal matters. My wife encouraged me to do everything I had time for. She said we never knew when a situation would arise where I’d need to officiate an Olivian wedding, or sign adoption paperwork, or hire a merchant of dance.” “You can legally hire a killer?” “I could. I’ve never done it. Having a wide range of legal options was key to my promotion in the merchants of light. Dia—sorry, I mean the Guildmaster Thousand-Diamonds—finds it helpful to have someone around whose name on a piece of paper can pull a thousand strings.” I hadn’t realized what a dangerous man he was. To think he could hire a merchant of dance! I thought only Godbloods and vassal kings had that type of influence. “Would you kill to protect the trade secrets of the merchants of light?” I asked, and regretted it as soon as the words were out of my mouth. “I doubt it. Those secrets aren’t so big that they’re worth taking a life.”

MoLaB - Liesle is the mother/wife of the trio. She's the mother of Amiere's children. At the start of MoLaB, she is pregnant and in great distress over the death of her daughter Tawny. She can come across as a bit brash or abrasive at times, though imo she's completely justified.

She's a very minor character in MoLaB, especially since she has no dialogue. However, if you pay attention to her actions and her one interlude chapter, you'll know she's actually a sassy little shit on the inside

Nio is Amiere's youngest daughter. She's autistic in a specific, maybe stereotypical way, but it's how I wanted her to be. She is mute by choice, and a child prodigy at the 3-person chess-like board game "troika."

Tawny was the one who died at the start of MoLaB, and Fionn takes is especially hard. He never fully recovers throughout the book. He becomes friends with Beatrice the Daughter and Oboro (and, in the future, they will be a romantic partner trio).

I chose Fionn for Strength because he's a strong kid
