Oat milk for coffee, soy for overnight oats, coconut for stew.

Hickory milk is a treat for a forager. Make it the indigenous way; smash and boil the hulled nuts.

What lighter touch could one have on the land than to grow a native nut tree, and milk it yourself? 🌳🐿️🥛

🚨 Buckthorn doesn’t belong in MN but is present. It provides food for animals—like this rodent enjoying a berry! 🐿️ Winter is perfect for removal; plant native species like Juneberry in spring! 🍒🌱 #InvasiveSpecies #Buckthorn #Minnesota #Nature #Conservation #NativePlants

Amazing news! One of Michigan’s last rare prairies may be saved. Conservation groups are raising funds to protect Sibley Prairie and its threatened pollinators. Hope in action. 🌱

The California Mugwort (Artemisia douglasiana) planted in October is producing tiny offspring already. This gives me hope for a shady area which, except for invasives, has been lifeless. 🌱 #californianativeplants #nativeplants

Orange Bush Monkeyflower (Diplacus aurantiacus) blooming in Mayacamas Mtns last week (at about 2000ft/609m elevation). Love their little "faces".💚

Looks like the milk jugs doing ok under all that snow 😅🌱

I only dug around one because I didn't want to accidentally step on any. The rest are completely covered.

Many of us believe we have black thumbs. “Seasonal” big box store plants simply fade, die, and end up in the trash.
#NativePlants can transform #Gardens, landscapes, into habitats full of life.

These "pretty-on-the-shelf" flowers in garden shops are widely promoted, because if you buy a new plants 3 or 4 times a year, they make $$. But planting more natives is better for the pollinators, birds, local ecosystems, & your wallet.

This is twisted stalk, a lovely understory plant of rich mesic woods. It's very pretty. Apparently it is marginally edible (I've never tried it), but if you eat too much of it you will learn why some people call it scootberry.
