For me, poetry is a vocation. There are skills to acquire through study and aching toil. This may lead to moments of mastery. But the mastery must be maintained through more practice and by acquiring new skills. It’s like taking holy orders after a very long novitiate, then doing it again and again.

indeed it is! he got it when he was still in his novitiate, so it was extended by about a year during his recovery. he has transcortical motor aphasia as a result, though no one would be calling it that at this point in time, lol
