A rare vintage 1950s handmade sterling silver ornately framed and dangling pre Columbian inspired Mayan Mask design brooch by Los Castillo of Taxco. A lovely design that likely originated in the 1940s, and I'm guessing a Margot design, though this example was made a bit later in the 1950s. No doubt based upon or influenced by the ancient arts of Mexico, most likely the Maya. Measures 2.25" wide by 1.5" tall, and weighs 17.2 grams total. Marked at back as shown with the 1950s circular marks, "Los Castillo Taxco" and "Sterling Made in Mexico", along with the Eagle 15 and design number "224". Excellent vintage condition.

A big pair of vintage 1940s signed handmade sterling silver pre-Columbian ornate Maya Faces design dangle earrings by Plafina of Mexico City. A lovely pair of large earrings with a lot of visual impact! No doubt the design was based on the ancient art of the Maya or Aztecs, and the maker went to great trouble to make these earrings as finely detailed as possible! Each measures 1-3/4" long by just under 1" at widest. The pair weigh 11.2 grams total. Marked at back as shown, "Plafina 925 Mexico". Plafina was a silversmithy located in Mexico City and in business from roughly the 1940s to the 1980s. Excellent vintage condition.
