Agree.

I can see how the constraint based regression analysis would work in theory, but would really need to see an example to understand it fully.

I also think that there’s an interesting chicken and egg scenario where the decision to constrain (or not) a variable can impact the outcome.

Sometimes it's just important to be a pragmatist. After all why change something that is common knowledge or accepted in the status quo when a trivial change benefits no one. Maybe the change is even regression from progress.

**Abstract:** The search for axion dark matter (ADM) relies on ultra-sensitive microwave cavity experiments, typically exhibiting noisy signals complicated by systematic drifts. Current analysis methods often struggle to definitively distinguish ADM signals from these background fluctuations. This paper introduces a novel, fully automated anomaly detection system leveraging Optimal Transport (OT) and Gaussian Process Regression (GPR) to enhance ADM signal identification. Our system, termed "Axion Anomaly Scout" (AAS), learns a baseline noise profile, detects deviations from this profile using OT distance calculations, and characterizes the associated uncertainty using GPR.
