As long as evil people keep feeding Hell with their deeds, Hell will never die. And there’s an endless supply of evil people. When Sahelanthropus started out, most of them killed some of their own kind in other tribes. It was routine, no one even thought about it. Today we think about the killing.

The killer ape must always struggle up to the conscious mind. Sahelanthropus was killing his neighbor and persecuting chimps seven million years ago.

Did Sahelanthropus, which lived 7 million years ago, walk on two legs like a modern human? It's complicated

New fossil evidence suggests that Sahelanthropus tchadensis, one of the earliest candidates for a human ancestor, could walk upright seven million years ago. The finding shows that bipedalism may have evolved far earlier than scientists once believed

Toumaï, the skull of a late Miocene hominin, Sahelanthropus tchadensis. Recent research has suggested that this species "demonstrates the earliest known adaptations to terrestrial bipedalism" (Williams et al., 2026). Cast, Natural History Museum, London, 2018. #FossilFriday #PaleorenjiPhoto

Earliest evidence of hominin bipedalism in Sahelanthropus tchadensis 🏺🧪

Results suggest that Sahelanthropus was an early biped that evolved from a Pan-like Miocene ape ancestor.

Just quoting what I've read.

The fossil record for African Great Apes in that period except Sahelanthropus is especially bad.

The team that found c. 6 mya Orrorin claimed Sahelanthropus was "a female gorilla".

Actual possible gorilla ancestor from 8 mya ago was recently identified from Turkey.

Sahelanthropus has been the centre of very heated debate that affects the reaction to this study also.

Paleontologists arguing whether it was bipedal or quadruped are often in deep-dug trenches where personal relations affects how they view the evidence.

When did “we” start walking upright? Paleoanthropologists have analyzed seven-million-year-old fossils from the Sahelanthropus tchadensis species (center) and found that the leg bones and muscles were likely adapted for bipedalism.
