But it's absolute madness for those of us in the imperial core to completely disengage from all critical thought as our governments move in to balkanize the country. This is not our victory or our moment to celebrate. We're already complicit in the plunder of a nation (and all of the chaos that's about to follow). "Israel" is bombing and invading Syria with American weapons we speak. Those of you who said nothing about the U.S. occupation of 1/3rd of the country, all while we stole and siphoned its oil to "Israel," are now basking in the jubilation of another regime change. The ousting of Assad has been a key objective for Washington for decades. This has dire, severe consequences for Syria's sovereignty and the region.

While Western media will spin this as a "mission accomplished" scenario, nothing could be farther from the truth. Not only are the resistance's capabilities still very much intact, but the ground invasion was a failure of almost historic proportions. This, coupled with the rising attrition of the military personnel, has forced Tel Aviv to cut its losses. savesheikhjarrahnow Given the silence from the Lebanese resistance, who continuously linked their fighting to the genocide in Gaza, it is difficult to see if this is a ceasefire proper. What is more likely is that the "ceasefire" is merely a euphemism for the withdrawal of "Israeli" ground forces in Lebanon. Only time will tell. Regardless, Hebrew media sees through Netanyahu's charade, bemoaning the "surrender" and abandonment of the north.
