i just realized, did any of the new azur lane shipgirls even DO anything this event?
pretty sure most of it was just lexington II while everybody else were just kinda "there." iirc there wasn't even any combat so literally what was everybody else doing

The new island building mode gives the Commander a male chibi, but the (EN Translation) of story events goes out of its way to never actually gender the commander one way or another. There are a few shipgirls who call you "onii-chan" and the like though.

My exact number of non-duplicate shipgirls is however many there are in the game, minus the 8 Neptunia collab ships, the (6?) Kizuna Ai collab ships and 1 ship that drops from world 15 I haven't been assed to farm for yet.

The problem is that including shipgirls pretty much fundamentally shifts the entire dynamic of the film. You start asking questions like "were there other shipgirls along with Missouri" "if so, why was reactivating her such a big deal when others were active" "were the Sampson/Myoko/JPJ shipgirls"

Part of the lore for #ProjectBLUESTAR is that the movie had been about to come out in 2012 when the Abyssal-Siren War started, so they canned it. 4 years later they decided to rewrite it and reshoot it so they could include shipgirls, including Missouri in the starring role as herself.
