This is an A3 photo print experiment using a CMYK layering technique with Solarfast dyes (and Cyanotype for the blue layer). It's a fun process, but it takes about 10 hours in total to make one print. Still, 10/10 would do again.

Purple Solarfast is my new favorite; it seems to be much cooler on Canson XL paper when exposed less and continued to depend and get warmer. I may try and use this as a replacement for cyan in my CMYK attempts just to see what happens - maybe a blue hour effect? #solarfast #cyanotypes #altprocess

The mix was mostly cyanotype chemicals with just a splash of Jacquard solarfast solar dyes.
I then prepped 3 smaller panels with the same setup, and I still had some leaves to play with, so I did some panels on mineral paper.
I am very happy with the finished prints! #wetcyan #cyanotype #blueprint

Printing with the sun with UV-reactive colors is such fun! Like Cyanotype or SolarFast (you got both from Jacquard). I printed a hand dyed silk scarf with SolarFast years ago, using negatives of different animals/plants. It came out super soft and nice. And it's also sold :)

My own CMYK print hand made with cyanotype, SolarFast, and hand sanitizer; two cyanotype prints I’m donating to a legal fundraiser for people arrested at a Pro-Palestinian demonstration.

My newest "cyanotype" shirt, made with solarfast black. It came out very much brown and not black at all, but I think I like the brown better. I was hoping to make this shirt to wear to the Rocky Mountain Horse Expo but it got cancelled. At least it motivated me to figure out solarfast printing!

Welcome to part 99 featuring Spikenard, Aralia racemosa. It's a perennial that grows to shrub height in summer, with large coarse leaves, and spikes of inconspicuous flowers that mature to purple berries. I started with a print on cotton sateen, using cyanotype chemicals with a splash of Solarfast.
