There are probably ways to achieve many of the same 🧹 cleanup steps done by sysprep without sysprep, but everyone knows sysprep. I'd be glad to hear how to do the same things without it

This is just ridiculous - if sysprep can fail validation because of those #MSIX packages, then Microsoft should just add a sysprep option to nuke all of them on sight. They break sysprep, and we need to remove them anyway to get a clean Windows image

This is a guide to create a VM from a specialized image, my problem is that Azure VM Image Builder apparently always runs sysprep and flags the resulting image as generalized. There's a way to customize the script that calls sysprep but I doubt making it do nothing would make the image specialized

Sysprep has been broken since 2012 when Windows 8 and store came out. I logged bugs on it back then and no one cared. They really don’t care about sysprep now. @niehaus.bsky.social can share all the details if he cares to chime in.

The only proper way to upgrade is backing up all your data and installing from scratch, ideally from a clean Unattended.xml & Sysprep image which your IT is hopefully doing anyways, makes the computer a lot faster with a lot less bloat.

Run into a bit of an issue trying to create a vCentre template of #Windows11 #24H2 #LTSC. Final step of task sequence is the sysprep prepare and it’s failing saying #bitlocker is on when it’s not. Need to run manage-bde -off C: before sysprep will complete. Any ideas?

Can't stress this enough: use /mode:vm with sysprep when using VMs on Hyper-V. This is a lot faster
