The forest edge at Coronation Plantation near Sally Gap. Both B/W and colour versions for #ThickTrunkTuesday. The true colour version looks positively garish after the moody looking B/W one.

Looking out from the edge of a small forest at the remains of the Coronation Plantation near Sally Gap in Co. Wicklow. An abandoned old stone cottage in the distance beyond the layers of hedgerows. Further still are fields of grass and gorse spreading up the mountain. At the very top you can just make out a radio mast, the highest point in Co. Dublin. A colour view of the previous image. Where the B/W version feels cold and lonely with full colour you can see it's a bright summer's day with more inviting, warmer tones to the land.

This beautiful old tree is in Massey's Woods on the outskirts of Dublin. I'm not entirely sure but I think it's a Sequoia, a Redwood of some kind anyhow. Lots of unusual trees in Massey's that you wouldn't expect to see in Ireland.

This grand old fella is always a treat to see. Redwood I think (not native). These woods are filled with native and many non-native trees introduced more than a century ago.
