#uBlue
uBlue had pre-made images for my old surface, if you want to futz. It’s a community distro based on Fedora Blue.

I'm going to try ublue-os ucore on my NAS.

I may look into trying my hand at building a custom ublue image based on Bazzite DX but using Niri and DankMaterialShell as the defaults.

if anything they should be using ublue ngl

oh yeah that reminds me I've been meaning to have you rebase to ublue

do I get rid of my grudge against rpm-ostree and start contributing to ublue/bazzite
January 23, 2026 at 10:19 AM
bazzite and the ublue family in general is goated

I remember the Flatpak having issues with downloading stickers on uBlue distro like Bazzite. If that's the case then maybe I should apologise to Bazzite, thought it was just Flatpak jank.

Yup. The calibrator worked. It was notably the one thing that worked, where apps didn't seem to.

This is also why I'm simply guessing it's an NVIDIA bug: github.com/ublue-os/baz...

Eine anfängerfreundliche Option, die bisher zu wenig Aufmerksamkeit bekommt sind die Fedora Atomic Desktops. Oder die ublue-Varianten davon. Image-basiert, stabil und sicher.

TIL ublue! Looks neat. I'm fond of OpenSUSE MicroOS myself

i think if i was in full control of my server i'd put github.com/ublue-os/ucore on it instead of nixos. having a declarative system is nice but i like when everything is able to update on it's own accord. i don't want system updates to be tied to service updates
January 16, 2026 at 5:11 AM
maybe it should be a ublue-based distro? Immutable and simple, like some other things we enjoy.
January 15, 2026 at 1:56 PM
Honestly i really like that about immutable systems, the same happens to me when someone else uses bazzite or any ublue stuff because i know everything already about their os

Looking at the systemd error message and a line saying no UUID available, my fair guess would be that you have this issue. (which seems to be a case with all Fedora Atomic>42)

You can apparently comment out the root mountpoint in /etc/fstab as pointed out here.

One time I broke UBlue Aurora, a supposedl durable and "immutable" distro, with a Wayland error and wasn't able to recover it. Then I switched to NixOS. I have never had that break on me, but if something like that ever does happen again, [POWER] [DOWN ARROW] [ENTER] WE'RE BACK!

literally any ublue distro is the correct answer now and i think any other suggestion should be taken as a joke.

Repost from mastodon 1/2

What a year 2025 has been.

End of last year/beginning of 2025 I made my first contribution to OSS project (uBlue) and got sucked in. Now at the end of the year I’m one of the co-maintainers of Aurora.
