Crazy how they called their shot right at the very beginning! 📽️
Screenshot of the OG Frankenstein with a bunch of characters toasting “To young Frankenstein”

Watching the horror movie about the writer having a bad time in a remote wintry location…no not that one, the other one!

thanks to @dorianlynskey.bsky.social for introducing me to this movie poster, featuring a tagline that made me hyperventilate with laughter

I have to say I’m not really interested in most J-Horror remakes from the 2000s, but currently watching The Ring remake, and it really does feel like a J-Horror Lite (coloring, etc.), which is not nothing (distinct Fincher vibes too) 📽️

I cried watching Laura Dern’s speech on my most recent rewatch, it’s such a great encapsulation of Lynch!

a lot of filmmakers believe in evil but Lynch was the rare one who genuinely believed in good

Amazing that a shot like this can exist on screen:
Tony Leung and Chow Yun Fat pointing guns at each other in Hard Boiled

Watching HARD BOILED (1992), and it’s crazy how in less than a decade Tony Leung and Chow Yun Fat would separately lead two of the best movies of 2000, and perhaps of all time: In the Mood for Love & Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon! 📽️

I’ve been able to find 98% of movies that aren’t on free streaming at my local library!

Any time Takashi Shimura shows up in a Kurosawa film, even in a small role:

My 80-year-old aunt told me she "got tired of streaming" and is borrowing DVDs from her library again.

So I checked it out and they have an amazing selection. Blu-rays too, from Criterion, Kino Lorber and other boutique labels.

'Logan Lucky' released in theaters 8 years ago and this George R.R. Martin joke still holds true today

Design for Living, The Shop Around the Corner as already mentioned, and Ninotchka (from the legendary movie year, 1939!)

SO GOOD! I’ve become a Lubitsch stan in the past year, but until recently it made less sense until I realized Wilder worked with Lubitsch early in his career, and Wilder also influenced the Coens

Finally finishing up the Alien movies (haven’t seen Resurrection or Covenant), and Resurrection has a murderer’s row of some of the best character actors of all time! Dan Hedaya! J.E. Freeman! Brad Dourif! 📽️

Cornelius Nepos! Easier than Caesar in many places, and much more varied subject matter (mostly biography).

Yes! I’ve already pre-ordered the 4k disc, I’m assuming they were showing it in 4k, it looked incredible!

Saw it on the screen tonight! One of my all time favorites from one of my favorite directors!
historybuff381.bsky.social
Lynch is probably my favorite director, I own the movie, but besides an opportunity to rewatch in a theater earlier this year, I think I’m with you!

It depends on what version they buy, sometimes the service buys/leases a specific version of the film, or chooses which version to release. I’m not sure if it means the streaming service is editing it themselves (I don’t think they care enough!)
