For those of you interested in accessing U.S. Census Bureau data from data.census.gov during the government shutdown, the Census APIs are still working.

Here is an example of how to access the Census API using both #Rstats and #Python

I was just excited that somebody responded. after the heyday of Twitter a few years ago, where this type of thing happened every single day I was worried that the community wasn’t really around anymore.

I typically enjoy a janky solution but this is for a project where I'm trying to teach new R users, so may not this time

The purpose is to show the r for the inline expression
coreysparks1.bsky.social
ah, duh, i'd put it in a chunk, that works too!
coreysparks1.bsky.social
this puts the vector notation in front of the output, and adds an extra r in there

knitr::inline_expr('r mean(1:10)', "md")
coreysparks1.bsky.social
Close! if I use
`{{r}} r mean(1:10)`

I get this:
{r} r mean(1:10)

but what I want is

r mean(1:10)
coreysparks1.bsky.social
ok, dumb #rstats question. I'm using #quarto and i want to print some inline R code in my HTML report, but I DON'T want it to actually run the code

I want it to be like this in the report:
`r mean(1:10)`

Question for the group.
If you are in a job and there is basically no way of moving upwards in your organization, what would you do?

I'm listening to this episode and would highly recommend it to those who've never thought about count variable models, BUT!! Where's the denominator?? I'm seriously jonesing for a discussion of offsets in these models, and yes it's because I'm a #demographer coreysparks.github.io/appdem_Book/...

Without public data, Trump can say whatever he wants, his administration is effectively removing the ability for the public to have any factual basis to the health and socioeconomic conditions of his great america. If you are a public data user, archive whatever you can. #resist #publicdata

Hey #rstats and #quarto folks, I'm building a quarto dashboard and using a gt table to show a reactive dataframe. The problem is that when I select the filter, the table keeps getting large and larger, has anyone else seen this? TIA

If fellow BlueSkyers were like me and used to love TweetDeck back in the day, I'd really recommend @deck.blue to bring back that column view and general vibe.

During trump 1.0, we had to pull down all of the climate change pages off the EPA website. Start archiving shit now, document, backup, photograph, whatever you need to do.
