The decline in long-form reading and thinking is already manifest in doctoral programs where students no longer read “whole books” and extended arguments. This author portrays a “post rational age” and its dire consequences for societies already in evidence.

www.nytimes.com/2025/08/06/o... Good to know that some professors and their students are resisting the uncritical use of AI and keeping the “humane” in the humanities.

Masha Gessen marshals five powerful arguments that lead people to obey in advance, and one even more powerful argument not to obey. The choice for musicians and educators today who are lovers of liberty needs to be “not to obey” and to subvert or oppose.

www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv... The inhumanity and illegality of this American coup is shameful. Musk and his minions (and their enablers) are destroying the country, its government, its security, and its reputation.
