I don’t doubt that some of my co-religionists have experienced antisemitism. Sometimes aggressively so.

But it’s use as a cudgel to destroy institutions essential to our country has absolutely nothing to do with that.

🚨 @pattitlenard.bsky.social & Jocelyn Kane join the Debate⚡

Reparations aren’t just about citizenship, what if refusal is the remedy?

Settler states 🇨🇦🇺🇸🇦🇺 must recognise Indigenous Peoples' right to reject colonial citizenship while ensuring access to services & recognition

I’m jealous! I was proud of myself for steering clear of it

I’m what I hope is at least half way through my first Covid infection - and I have to say, everything about this experience makes me confused about why we have decided to let it run rampant when we could … not.

The City of Ottawa has a gorgeous history of welcoming those fleeing oppression - and we can and should draw on that history to continue to do so.

Everyone deserves a chance for a good life. Ottawa has a history of welcoming refugees and newcomers.

Let’s draw on that compassionate tradition and fight the racism and disinformation circulating right now.

Housing is a human right. Refugees are welcome here.

I know we can do better, Ottawa.

Thanks David and Daniel! It's not nothing, trying to respond to 16 smart people at once

Thank you to the *16* people who responded so thoughtfully to my defence of mandatory citizenship oaths. Below is my attempt at a response! Short version: citizenship oaths build trust and formalize new political affiliations in ways that newcomers find meaningful.

Will do. You’ve been a trusted voice for us during this whole nonsense, and thank you for that
pattitlenard.bsky.social
Thanks Davia! We read this, and it just says that folks should wait til they test negative on 2 RAPs over 48 hours, which is ok. But after 17 days, I was just wondering if that is still what we ought to do. Feels like a long time and we all miss our guy! But don’t want to put us or others at risk
pattitlenard.bsky.social
Fair. Problem for us is that OPH just says five days and you’re free so hard to know what the responsible thing to do is.
pattitlenard.bsky.social
Advice seeking, @dfisman.bsky.social: my partner has been testing positive for 17 days, and isolating the whole time. Only remaining symptom is a lingering cough. Is the right thing to do to continue isolating? (Me and one kid still covid virgins.)
