Well that could plausibly be “look at this idiot”

bc fighting on Twitter was so unpleasant. Majority illusion kicks in as people who disagree stay quiet.

Meanwhile the spectacle is handy for the right (see #2) and sparks thinkpieces in MSM ab who should use what words. There were articles ab them in 2020-22. SF def had a “justice-involved” debate.

3)Intra-left fights: this did happen around some of those terms. Ie Latinx. That one pols did start to use even when Latinos were like “why?” Pressure to “update language to be more inclusive” creates a purity spiral and the often-small activist group insisting a term was “right” got little pushback
noupside.bsky.social
1)Niche in-group performance: influencers who want to use this language do, in content for their communities.

2)Nut-picking: accounts like LibsOfTikTok intentionally dig up the oddest/extremist examples & blast them out, leading to “the left is saying!” cycle (see Sydney Sweeney’s Boobs discourse)

Interesting analysis responding to the “Don’t Use These Words” memo (“birthing person” etc) by Third Way. It looked at language used by Dem politicians in their newsletters, found they aren’t using activist-speak.

The terms got associated w/mainstream left mostly bc of Twitter…for a few reasons.

She’s always been an idiot, but given copious amounts of both attention and grace — cast as the archetype of the Warrior Mother and thus positioned safely above real critical engagement with her ideas, which are a combination of the obvious and the ridiculous.

That was a fun one, they’re both great. Wizzard was at world’s last year. It was a bummer that they were against each other in such an early bracket. :)

Anyway it will be a fun competition, you’ll definitely recognize some of the music (nostalgia rap blasted in your dorm in college lol), and the competitors are SO talented. The crowd is always hyped, and other dancers are usually sitting on the side of the stage. Full Red Bull production value!

Regional qualifiers have been happening for a few months. This 18yo, Capjay from LA, is my fav.

(My kids dance; so did/do I, so we follow them)

The dancers who compete have different styles hence the title. In the US many are hip hop, but you get vogue/ballroom, popping, Latin, Indian, etc.

Nah she was better in a day. The older two didn’t get anything. This is just the unfortunate reality of little kids going to school, they catch everything and bounce back immediately and you catch it worse for some reason. No fever, just a sore throat and malaise and vague resentment.

We are convalescing watching YouTube videos of cats. She likes Pyaari the decent Indian cat and doesn’t understand why our cats won’t let her dress them up.

Behemoth would never.

Sick with some cold/cough/sore throat situation that youngest kid going to school for the first time brought home. I had forgotten about this ritual…

I wrote about this one. See the section on Durham annex here. The usual suspects simply ran with the screenshots on X anyway —the evidence collage accomplished what it needed to simply beside the emails exist. The debunkings don’t matter.

The beautiful thing ab Bluesky, which this article & others ab 'lib twitter' never get to, is that here you can subscribe to labelers. Middleware! User empowerment! Someone's already built a furry-hider for you if you want it. Minimal effort to hide diapered furries.

X can't do this for the Nazis.
Inside the Furry War Playing Out

Unfortunately, Bluesky is unavailable in Mississippi right now, due to a new state law that requires age verification for all users.

While intended for child safety, we think this law poses broader challenges & creates significant barriers that limit free speech & harm smaller platforms like ours.

Remember when this was at its peak? Sociopaths on X were pulling up random grantees - journalists, dancers, etc - saying they were CIA assets, or in cahoots, bc they had USAID or USIP grants & those orgs were "fronts". Mike Benz went on Joe Rogan to do it. Sick.
