He and Mr. Rubio had used it earlier in the year to summarily deport hundreds of Venezuelans to a notorious prison in El Salvador, only to be stopped by court rulings.

Peeps, you DO realize that our non-white friends and neighbors...are now carrying their birth certificates and passports so they can PROVE they are US citizens "just in case"?

So many of my older Jewish friends and relatives, including much of my own family, supported the Anti-Defamation League, literally for generations, for reasons including:

— They cared about civil rights
— They cared about fighting antisemitism
— They understood that the two are inseparable

Public discourse on this subject has utterly failed to direct citizens' attention to the actual problem, which is that a commercial industry is assaulting education. So every week we get another thoughtless op-ed on blue books or the death of the college essay, etc etc.

We have forgotten what it's like to hold a child paralyzed with polio or comfort a mom who has lost her child from measles. It wasn’t that many generations ago. And I don‘t want to see us go backward. They protect children. They are our best defense against these terrible illnesses.

I started using blue books for daily reflection in class about readings and class discussions. 5 minutes of quiet time and private reflection. The BB is reused each class until full. Students seemed to appreciate it. No one complained about "hand cramps."
