In my day goths levitated quite a lot, but largely due to the upper cuts of the local Devon scallywags, who were somehow incensed by young men in high black suede heels and frilly Lord Byron shirts intoning 'Bella Lugosi is dead' at half past two of a merry morning.

Oh good grief: all the happy clappy senior managers go back to the planning board. No hold up lads, forget the China link ups, we just need to show we have 'embedded skills teaching' a la Government edict 3007 and we are made! UCU/VCs this is the stuff we need to fight (together).

Can we have t-shirts made? 'I voted for a leftwing coalition of chaos!' Oh yes, bring that chaos on.....
On Bregman, I was there in the audience and I can’t see what the BBC have gained by removing this line except more bad publicity. I will say that no such edits or censorship occurred when I gave the Reith Lectures and free-speech defenders might want think about whether this is the world they want.

Looking at polling averages, Reform has dipped a little recently but it's largely because of Labour 24 voters who had been saying "don't know" now saying Green.

As DKs they were excluded but as Greens they are not, so Reform drop even though they have the same number of people supporting them.

He had worsened the lives of so very many people. Has he made any better? Maybe some older people for 5 minutes as the companionship of Brexit, Reform campaigns fills the lonely part of their lives. Beyond that, he's just made rascists feel good.

I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

Farage never "tried to hurt anybody".
He hurt the UK.
He hurt the European Union.
He promoted division & hate.
He destroyed our once tolerant society.
But, never mind. He doesn't remember.

When the racist comedian Bernard Manning fell out of fashion in more tolerant times and stopped appearing on TV he defended his long history of appalling offensive "jokes" as nothing more than "banter"and insisted that he "had a go at everyone".

This is the Bernard Manning defence.
Robbie Gibb describes the BBC's Political Editor Chris Mason as the "unsung hero of covering politics" and "absolutely first rate"

Count yourself lucky you don't have to produce crispy roast potatoes at the same time: although, us English have the weekly Sunday roast practice at least... p.s. parboil the carrots (day before), roll them in balsamic vinegar, and roast them to perfection...
If I’m understanding this correctly, X is owned by a white nationalist who pays poor people of color in developing countries to pretend to be working class white Americans to scare other white Americans into being afraid poor people of color from developing countries are going to ruin America?

Brilliant. Thank you.

There is a legendary ARD interview with Helmut and Loki Schmidt, both well over 90, puffing away so that the camera could barely see them for the smoke. I think an exception had been made to the no smoking on TV rule. They were brilliant 👏.
This is not a peace plan. It is a proposal that weakens Ukraine and divides America from Europe, preparing the way for a larger war in the future. In the meantime, it benefits unnamed Russian and American investors, at the expense of everyone else.

Farage can now be easily boxed in to a corner where his only ‘defence’ becomes: “Yes I spouted Kremlin propaganda & Putin worship but, unlike Nathan Gill, I didn’t need bribes to do it.”
It is, once again, a question of whether interviewers have the temerity to shut down his whining obfuscations.

Hypothesis: Starmer is obligated to Peter Mandelson. Why else did he give him plum Washington job?

He’s been sacked over his Epstein links. But he & Epstein had other common interests & contacts. Mandelson was friends with key Putin allies for years.

This is outrageous from Keir Starmer.

‘Russian links to Reform need investigating’, he says. So why is his government still fighting case now in Grand Chamber of Strasbourg court refusing to have such an investigation into Russian interference ??

Gosh, surprised by the Siberian dominance here. Brix looks so much like my old (rescued from breeding horror) British Blue that I would go for British short-hair (first time I've heard the character description and it fits perfectly). But folks, do avoid dodgy breeding traders. No to designer cats!
Reform UK in Leicestershire Council are paying consultants Newton £1.4m to do the job they claimed DOGE would do.

Thats £4.72 per Council Tax paying household.

It could rise to £30m they are paying Newton. Thats £101 per household in Leicestershire.

For those wanting to know the long history behind this vile, racist drivel: top academic research, accessible writing, worth its weight in gold, especially as regards the (to us) policy incoherence of a rascist/capitalist alt right.

The Guardian points out that the document Trump is forcing Ukraine to sign was highly likely to have been written in Russian by a Russian. Then translated in a way not natural for a native English speaker.

I should like to see several former Tory government ministers in prison. Not for incompetence, because that isn't a crime, but for misconduct in public office associated with turning the pandemic into an enrichment opportunity and for gross negligence manslaughter.
